Hertfordshire, Multiple Roads, Temporary Closures Due To Various Works

What is happening?

HERTFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL:

(TEMPORARY CLOSING AND TEMPORARY WAITING RESTRICTIONS ON THE SOUTHBOUND CARRIAGEWAY OF A41 TYLERS WAY, WATFORD) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the southbound carriageway of A41 Tylers Way, Watford from its junction with Dagger Lane south eastwards to its junction with the A411 Estree Road roundabout, a distance of approximately 290m (the “Road”), except for access.

An alternative route will be via A41 (Tylers Way/Elton Way/North Western Avenue), A4008 Stephenson Way and A411 (Waterfields Way/Lower High Street/Chalk Hill/London Road/High Street/Sparrows Herne/Etsree Road).

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 15 September 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF OLD SHIRE LANE, CHORLEYWOOD) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Old Shire Lane, Chorleywood from its junction with Heronsgate Road south westwards for a distance of approximately 10m (the “Road”), except for access.

There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.

The Order is needed because utility service works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 15 September 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF FOXGLOVE PATH, SOUTH OXHEY) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Foxglove Path, South Oxhey from its junction with Hayling Road westwards to its junction with Hayling Road, a distance of approximately 45m (the “Road”), except for access.

There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.

The Order is needed because drainage works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 15 September 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF VARIOUS ROADS IN WATFORD) ORDER NO.4 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of roads (the “Roads”):

  1. That length of Elmsleigh Road, Watford from its junction with York Way south westwards for a distance of approximately 47m.

  2. That length of Garsmouth Way, Watford from its junction with York Way south westwards to its junction with The Turnstones south eastwards and north westwards to its junction with The Phillipers, a distance of approximately 370m.

  3. That length of The Turnstones, Watford from its junction with The Gossamers south eastwards to its junction with York Way, a distance of approximately 168m. An alternative route will be via The Gossamers and York Way.

  4. That length of Garsmouth Way, Watford from its junction with York Way south westwards for a distance of approximately 30m.

An alternative route will be via York Way, Meriden Way and Garsmouth Way.

5. That length of The Gossamers, Watford from its junction with York Way north eastwards to its junction with Bowmans Green, a distance of approximately 151m.

An alternative route will be via York Way, Meriden Way, Garsmouth Way, A41 (North Western Avenue), A412 St Albans Road, Garston Lane and The Gossamers.

6. That length of road between York Way, The Phillipers and The Gossamers and The Gossamers between A412 St Albans Road, Garston Lane and The Gossamers.

The Order is needed because carriageway improvement works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.

If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 15 September 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF A411 CHALK HILL, OXHEY) ORDER NO.2 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of A411 Chalk Hill, Oxhey from its junction with Villiers Road westwards to its junction with A4008 Aldenham Road, a distance of approximately 450m (the “Road”), except for access.

An alternative route will be via A411 (Chalk Hill/London Road/High Street/Sparrows Herne), A4140 High Road, A409 (Common Road/Brookshill), A410 Uxbridge Road, A4008 (Aldenham Road/Exchange Road/ Beechen Grove), A411 (Watford Ring Road/High Street), Chalk Hill and A411 (Sparrows Herne).

The Order is needed because tree cutting works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 19 September 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF VARIOUS ROADS AND PUBLIC FOOTPATHS IN CHORLEYWOOD) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effects of which will be:

  1. To prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following length of roads (“the length of Roads”), except for access:

    a) That length of Berry Lane/Stag Lane, Chorleywood from its junction with Chorleywood Public Footpath No.028 south westwards for a distance of approximately 360m.

An alternative route will be via Berry Lane, Common Road, Cattlegate Road, Bottrells Wood, Furze View, Rendlesham Way and Stag Lane.

2. To prohibit all pedestrian traffic from using the following lengths of public footpaths (the “length of Footpaths”):

a) Chorleywood Public Footpath No.027 from its junction with Chorleywood Public Footpath No.028 south eastwards to its junction with Public Footpath No.026, a distance of approximately 28m.

There is no alternative route available for pedestrians when the works are being carried out. However pedestrian access to properties along the public footpath will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.

The Order is needed because the replacement of an existing gas main is proposed to be executed on or near the Road and Public Footpaths.

If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 15 September 2025 for a period of up to 6 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road and Public Footpaths.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF QUEENS ROAD, WATFORD) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Queens Road, Watford from its junction with Sutton Road south eastwards to its junction with Rosslyn Road, a distance of approximately 159m (“the Road”), except for access.

An alternative route will be via St John’s Road, Sotheron Road and Sutton Road.

The Order is needed because utility maintenance and renewal utility service works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

The Order has been made and shall come into force on 4 September 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF A411 HEMPSTEAD ROAD, WATFORD) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of A411 Hempstead Road, Watford from its junction with Langley Road north westwards to its junction with Rosslyn Road, a distance of approximately 135m (“the Road”), except for access.

An alternative route will be via A411 (Hempstead Road), Langley Road and Rosslyn Road and vice versa.

The Order is needed because ground works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

The Order has been made and shall come into force on 1 September 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF CLARENDON ROAD, WATFORD) ORDER NO.2 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Clarendon Road, Watford from a point in line with the northern boundary of No.37 Clarendon Road south eastwards for a distance of approximately 70m (the “Road”).

An alternative route will be via Clarendon Road, Station Road, A412 St Albans Road, A411 Beechen Grove and Clarendon Road

or via Clarendon Road, A411 (Beechen Grove/Exchange Road/Beechen Grove), A412 St Albans Road, Station Road and Clarendon Road.

The Order is needed because sewer works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

The Order has been made and shall come into force on 30 August 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.
