Batley and Dewsbury Area - Notice of Propsed Installation of Pedestrian Crossings

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 – SECTION 23
NOTICE OF PROPOSED INSTALLATION PEDESTRIAN CROSSINGS
BRADFORD ROAD, DEWSBURY & BRADFORD ROAD, BATLEY
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Kirklees Council propose to introduce under Section 23 of the Road Traffic Act 1984, as amended, the following features at the following locations:
Crossing No. Crossing Description
1 A652 Bradford Road, Dewsbury
 A proposed new puffin crossing on Bradford Road, Dewsbury. The centre line of the crossing is 24m north of the boundary of 46/48 Bradford Road, with associated zig zag markings extending 17m to the north and 17m to the south of the centre of the crossing.
2 A652 Bradford Road, Dewsbury
 Existing puffin crossing on Bradford Road, Dewsbury with amended layout. The centre line of the crossing is 10 metres from the projected north-eastern boundary of 47 Bradford Road, with associated zig zag markings extending 17m to the north and 17m to the south of the centre of the crossing.
3 A652 Bradford Road, Dewsbury
 A proposed new puffin crossing on Bradford Road, Dewsbury. The centre line of the crossing is 18 metres south of the projected southern western
boundary kerbline of property 140 Bradford Road, with associated zig zag markings extending 13m northwards and 13m southwards of the centre of the
crossing.
4 A652 Bradford Road, Batley
 A proposed new puffin crossing on Bradford Road, Dewsbury. The centre line of the crossing is 33 metres south-west of the north-east facing boundary
of 241 Bradford Road, with associated zig zag markings extending 9m north-eastwards and 13m south-westwards of the centre of the crossing.
5 A652 Bradford Road, Batley
 A proposed new puffin crossing on Bradford Road, Dewsbury. The centre line of the crossing is 24 metres south-west of the south-western gable end of 297 Bradford Road, with associated zig zag markings extending 5m to the north-east and 17m to the south-west of the centre of the crossing.
6 A652 Bradford Road, Batley
 A proposed new toucan crossing on Bradford Road, Dewsbury. The centre line of the crossing is 14 metres south of the projected northern boundary
of 268 Bradford Road, with associated zig zag markings extending 5m northwards and 17m southwards of the centre of the crossing.
REASON: The proposals are to introduce a number of new pedestrian crossing points along the A652 Bradford Road, Dewsbury and Batley. This work is being funded by a collaborative initiative between Kirklees Council
and the West Yorkshire Combined Authority to reduce high traffic volumes along the A652 which contribute to congestion, reduced air quality, and safety concerns for pedestrians and cyclists.
There are two types of crossings being proposed puffin crossings and toucan crossings, each is placed to assist pedestrians and/or cyclists, to and support the proposed improved cycling and pedestrian facilities along this corridor.
The implementation of these crossings is expected to improve road safety for pedestrians and cyclists.
