Main Road, Temporary Road Closure Due To Drainage Works

What is happening?

The County Council of Durham (Main Road, Trimdon Village) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2024

The Council on 3/1/2025 made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from proceeding on the following lengths of road. A 20 metre length of Main Road that extends eastwards from B1278 Salters Lane, Trimdon Village, to enable new development drainage works to be undertaken.

An alternative route will be available to vehicular traffic from the western side of the closure, from B1278 Salters Lane, either northwards to Trimdon Village crossroads, then east on Front Street and south on Church Road, or southwards on Salters Lane, then easterly on Wynyard Road and north on Church Road to Main Road, to the eastern side of the closure, and vice versa.

The maximum duration of the Order is 18 months. The proposed works which have been delayed will now commence on 1/9/2025 and are anticipated to be completed in 3 weeks. On occasions, alternative dates for the closure may be necessary and these will be signed on site accordingly.
