KIRKLEES COUNCIL

(TRAFFIC REGULATION) (NO. 04) ORDER 2025

MOUNT STREET, RINK STREET, BATLEY

AND COMMERCIAL ROAD, VICTORIA ROAD,

DEWSBURY

The Council of the Borough of Kirklees propose to make the above Order under their powers in the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 the effect of which, as it affects lengths of road in the Batley and Dewsbury areas of the Kirklees district, will be to:

1. Introduce one-way traffic flow on the following lengths of road:

i.   Rink Street, Batley from its junction with Bradford Road to its junction with Cross Rink Street

ii.  Victoria Road, Dewsbury from its junction with Bradford Road to its junction with Spring Street

2. Prohibit entry at all times to the following lengths of road:

i.   Commercial Road Dewsbury, from Bradford Road in a westerly direction

ii.  Mount Street, Dewsbury from Bradford Road in a

westerly direction

REASON: This order is proposed to introduce a number of moving traffic changes to side roads along the A652 Bradford Road, Batley & Dewsbury corridor, this work is being funded by a collaborative initiative between Kirklees Council and the West Yorkshire Combined Authority to reduce high traffic volumes along the A652, which contribute to congestion, reduced air quality, and safety concerns for pedestrians and cyclists.

The moving traffic changes are the introduction of oneway traffic flow to Rink Street, Batley and Victoria Road, Dewsbury and a no-entry to Mount Street, Batley and

Commercial Road, Dewsbury from Bradford Road and appropriate signing and lining. These proposals are designed to support the safe use of the proposed cycleway on Bradford Road.

The implementation of these changes is expected to increase road safety for pedestrians and cyclists.
