COUNCIL, HIGHWAYS ACT 1980 –
SECTION 116, STOPPING UP OF
HIGHWAY AT TURPIN LANE, SOUTH
MILFORD, NORTH YORKSHIRE,
NOTICE OF HEARING IN
MAGISTRATES’ COURT TAKE NOTICE
that The North Yorkshire Council, being the
highway authority for North Yorkshire,
intends to apply to York Magistrates’ Court
sitting at Clifford Street, York, YO1 9RE at
10.00am on Thursday 2 October 2025 for an
Order under Section 116 of the Highways Act
1980 to authorise the stopping up of an area
of highway at Turpin Lane, South Milford,
North Yorkshire, on the ground that it is
unnecessary. The effect of the Order will be
that the land in question ceases to be part of
the highway. A plan showing the proposed
area of highway to be stopped up has been
deposited at Sherburn and Villages
Community Library, Finkle Hill, Sherburn-in-
Elmet LS25 6EA and may be inspected there
free of charge during normal office hours –
