What is happening?
UPDATE OF TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER PROVISIONS AND INTRODUCTION OF CONTROLS FOR FARNHAM PARK AND MEMORIAL HALL CAR PARKS, FARNHAM AND WEYHILL ROAD CAR PARK, HASLEMERE THE WAVERLEY BOROUGH COUNCIL (OFF-STREET PARKING PLACES) (NO. 1) ORDER 2025
- NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Waverley Borough Council (“the Council”), under arrangements made with Surrey County Council pursuant to section 19 of the Local Government Act 2000 and the Local Authorities (Arrangements for the Discharge of Functions) (England) Regulations 2000 and in exercise of the powers conferred upon the County Council by sections 32, 35 and 124 of and Part IV of Schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, proposes to make the above Order.
- The general effect of the Order would be to: (a) consolidate and update provisions relating to the Council’s existing off-street car parks, including terms and conditions of use and the issue or grant of permits, to reflect the current operating situation in the Council’s public off-street car parks; (b) provide that the maximum stay and no return periods: (i) in Beacon Hill Car Park, Hindhead, would be 3 hours maximum stay and 3 hours no return; and (ii) in Library Car Park, High Street, Bramley, would be 2 hours maximum stay and 2 hours no return, and provide that vehicles must obtain a free parking period following instructions on a payment machine in those car parks; and (c) introduce controls for Farnham Park Car Park (Farnham), Memorial Hall Car Park (Farnham) and Weyhill Road (Haslemere), which would be available for leaving of passenger vehicles, goods vehicles and motor cycles, as follows: (i) Farnham Park Car Park, Farnham would operate ‘at any time’ and would be free of charge, with a maximum stay of 4 hours (12 hours no return); (ii) Memorial Hall Car Park, Farnham would operate ‘at any time’ and the charging hours would be between 8am and 6.30pm on Mondays to Saturdays, during which the charges would be: £1.00 (up to 1 hour); £2.00 (up to 2 hours); £2.90 (up to 3 hours); £4.70 (up to 4 hours); £5.60 (up to 6 hours); and £6.80 (up to 10.5 hours) with a maximum stay of 24 hours; (iii) Weyhill Road Car Park, Haslemere (Short Stay) would operate ‘at any time’ and the charging hours would be between 8am and 6.30pm on Mondays to Saturdays, during which the charges would be: £1.00 (up to 1 hour); £2.00 (up to 2 hours); £2.90 (up to 3 hours); £4.00 (up to 4 hours); with a maximum stay of 4 hours, no return within 4 Hours; (iv) Weyhill Road Car Park, Haslemere (Long Stay) would operate ‘at any time’ and the charging hours would be between 8am and 6.30pm on Mondays to Fridays, during which the charges would be: £1.00 (up to 1 hour); £2.00 (up to 2 hours); £2.90 (up to 3 hours); £4.00 (up to 4 hours); £7.00 (up to 10.5 hours) with a maximum stay of 24 hours; Saturdays, during which the charges would be: £1.00 (up to 1 hour); £2.00 (up to 2 hours); £2.90 (up to 3 hours); £4.00 (up to 4 hours); £4.00 (up to 10.5 hours) with a maximum stay of 24 hours; (v) blue badge holders would receive an hours’ worth of parking in addition to that paid for in the Memorial Hall Car Park, subject to the maximum stay period. Blue badge holders may apply to the Council for a ‘yellow’ permit that would allow the registered vehicle to park free of charge; and (vi) anyone may apply to the Council for a season ticket for Memorial Hall Car Park which would allow the registered vehicle to park for an unlimited period. The charge for a season ticket valid for a period of 12 months would be £981.75.
- A copy of the draft Order together with a Statement of Reasons for proposing to make the Order and other documents to which the Order relates may be inspected at the offices of Waverly Borough Council, The Burys, Godalming, Surrey GU7 1HR during normal office hours from the date of this Notice until the last day of a period of six weeks beginning with the date on which the Order is made or, as the case may be, the Council decides not to make the Order.
