A31 Alton Road, Farnham
(Prohibition of Right Turns and U-Turns) Order 2025
On 02 September 2025 Surrey County Council made under Sections 1(1) and 2(1) to (3) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the above mentioned Order which will come into force on 06 September 2025, the effect of which will be to: – 1. Prohibit traffic that is proceeding south-eastward on D5328 Chamber Lane, Farnham, upon reaching its junction with A31 Alton Road, from making a Right-Turn through the gap in the central reservation situate opposite the junction with D5328 Chamber Lane, into A31 Alton Road south-westbound carriageway. 2. Prohibit traffic that is proceeding north-eastward on A31 Alton Road, Farnham, upon reaching its junction with D5328 Chamber Lane from making a U-Turn through the gap in the central reservation situate opposite the junction with D5328 Chamber Lane, so as to face or proceed in the opposite direction. 3. Prohibit traffic that is proceeding south-eastward on “X31 Access to Properties, Alton Road, Farnham”, upon reaching its junction with A31 Alton Road, from making a Right-Turn through the gap in the central reservation situate opposite the junction with “X31 Access to Properties, Alton Road, Farnham” into A31 Alton Road south-westbound carriageway. 4. Prohibit traffic that is proceeding north-eastward on A31 Alton Road, Farnham, upon reaching its junction with “X31 Access to Properties, Alton Road, Farnham”, from making a U-Turn through the gap in the central reservation situate opposite the junction with “X31 Access to Properties, Alton Road, Farnham”, so as to face or proceed in the opposite direction.
The above restrictions shall not apply to vehicles being used for ambulance, fire brigade or police purposes in an emergency; or in relation to anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform; or in accordance with any restriction or requirement indicated by traffic signs placed on the road by or on behalf of Surrey Police. A copy of this Notice, a plan showing the lengths of road to which this Order relates, a Statement of the Council’s reasons for making the Order and a copy of the made Order, may be viewed until six weeks from the date of the making of the Order, at: – (i) Farnham Library, Vernon House, 28 West Street, Farnham, Surrey GU9 7DR, from 9:30am to: – 5:30pm on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, 7pm on Tuesday, 5pm on Saturday, with Super Access extended opening (unstaffed) from 8am to 9:30am on Monday to Saturday, and from 5.45pm to 8pm on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, 7.15pm to 8pm on Tuesday, 5.15pm to 8pm on Saturday, 8am to 8pm on Sunday; (ii) Guildford Library, 77 North Street, Guildford, Surrey GU1 4AL, from 9.30am to: – 5.30pm on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 7pm on Tuesday and Thursday, and 5pm on Saturday; (iii) Reception, Surrey County Council, Hazel House, Merrow Lane, Guildford, Surrey, GU4 7BQ, from 9am to 4pm Monday to Friday. If you wish to object to the Order, or any provision contained in it, on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Act, or on the grounds that any requirement of the Act or any instrument made under it has not been complied with in relation to the Order, you may, within six weeks of from the date of the making of the Order, apply to the High Court for this purpose.
