M54 Motorway - Temporary Prohibition of Traffic For Cable Replacement Work
What is happening?
ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 - SECTION 14(1)(a) AND (7)
THE M54 MOTORWAY (JUNCTION 2 TO JUNCTION 3)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Limited intends to make an Order on the M54 Motorway, in the Counties of Staffordshire and Shropshire, to enable cable replacement work to be carried out by National Grid.
The effect of the order will be to close –
(1) the eastbound carriageway of the M54 from its junction with the exit slip road at Junction 3, to its junction with the entry slip road at Junction 2;
(2) the westbound carriageway of the M54 from its junction with the exit slip road at Junction 2, to its junction with the entry slip road at Junction 3; and
(3) the entry slip roads leading –
(a) to the eastbound carriageway of the M54 at Junction 3; and
(b) to the westbound carriageway of the M54 at Junction 2.
The work will be carried out overnight between 21:00 hours and 06:00 hours and is expected to start on Saturday 27 September 2025 and continue for one night. The Order will come into force on 22 September 2025.
Vehicles being used for police, fire and rescue authority, ambulance or traffic officer purposes and vehicles being used in connection with the works or for winter maintenance purposes will be exempt from the closures.
Diversion routes via the A41, the A5 and the A449 and vice versa will be signed.
