Essex, Multiple Roads, Temporary Closures Due To Various Works

What is happening?

(Remote Footway (Sycamore Field), Harlow) (Temporary Prohibition of Use) Order 2025

Further to notice: Under section 14(2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended), which commenced on 08 August 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close Remote Footway (Sycamore Field) in the District of Harlow, from its junction with Dunstalls north west for approximately 45 metres to the path across the Local Road, Sycamore Field.

The closure is scheduled to commence on 29 August 2025 to 29 February 2026 weather permitting, or where stated on a valid permit. The closure is required for the safety of the public due to a dangerous building. The building is waiting for demolition.

Alternative route: Will be via footway on Dunstalls, south, then west on Remote Footway, north on Remote Footway to the Local Road, Sycamore Field.

The Order will come into effect 29 August 2025 and may continue in force for 6 months, or until the building has been demolished, whichever is the earlier.

(Alfred Road, Buckhurst Hill) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Alfred Road, Buckhurst Hill in the District of Epping Forest, from its junction with Roding Lane for a distance of approximately 25m in a south easterly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 22nd September 2025 for 1 day, or where stated on a valid permit (MU10130851656 – Thames Water). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the site and workforce while excavation works are undertaken by Thames Water.

An alternative route is available via Alfred Road, Roding Lane and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 4th September 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Tylers Road, Roydon) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) & (Temporary Suspension of 7.5 Tonne Weight Restriction) (North Street, Nazeing) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order:

  1. To temporarily close that length of Tylers Road, Roydon in the District of Epping Forest, from a point approximately 600m south west of its junction with Epping Road, for a distance of approximately 105m in a south westerly direction.

  2. To temporarily suspend the 7.5T weight restriction on that length of North Street, Nazeing in the District of Epping Forest, from its junction with B194 Nazeing Road to its junction with Middlecroft Lane as cited in the “Essex County Council (Various Roads North Street, Nazeing) (7.5 Tonne Weight Restriction) Order 2010” for the duration of the works only.

The closure/restrictions is scheduled to commence on 29th September 2025 for 5 days, or where stated on a valid permit (20010900792-2-KN – Gas Transportation Company). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure/restriction is required for the safety of the site and workforce while gas connection works are undertaken by Gas Transportation Company.

Alternative route: Will be via Epping Road, High Street, Highbridge Street, A121, A112, A113, Crooked Mile, Sedge Green, Pecks Hill, Epping Road, Station Road, Waltham Road, Nazeing Common, Common Road, Middle Street and vice versa.

(Various Roads, District of Epping Forest) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic & Temporary Introduction of a Clearway) (No.12) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order:

  1. To temporarily close those lengths of road in the District of Epping Forest as specified in the schedule

  2. A temporary “No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping” restriction will be introduced on both sides of carriageway on the above lengths of road for the duration of the closure to facilitate the works. Signs will be installed indicating when the No Waiting restriction will be in force.

The Essex County Council (Epping Forest District) (Prohibition of Waiting, Loading and Stopping) and (On Street Parking Places) (Civil Enforcement Area) Consolidation Order 2015” will be temporarily amended to include the temporary “No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping at Any Time” restriction and suspend any existing parking and waiting restrictions on the above lengths of road only. All other restrictions and exemptions contained in the aforementioned Order and amendments to that Order shall remain in force.

The works being undertaken will take place within an 18-month period from 4th September 2025 exact dates of works will be specified on the one.network. The roads will be closed to facilitate each phase of works and then re-opened to the public. Access will be maintained for emergency services. Diversion routes will be signed at each location and residents will be informed of the dates of each phase via letter/leaflet and advanced warning signs on the road.

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close those lengths of footpath in the District of Harlow as specified in the schedule.

The works being undertaken will take place within a 6-month period from 4th September 2025, actual dates of works will be specified on site. The footpath will be closed to facilitate works and then re-opened to the public. Access will be maintained for emergency services. Diversion routes will be signed at each location and residents will be informed of the dates via letter/leaflet and advanced warning signs on the footpath.

(Back Lane, Sheering) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Back Lane, Sheering in the District of Epping Forest, from a point approximately 110m south east of its junction with Sheering Lower Road for a distance of approximately 80m in a south easterly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 17th September 2025 for 2 days, or where stated on a valid permit (BC410101WIG3RW2D – Openreach). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while pole replacement works are undertaken by Openreach.

An alternative route is available via Back Lane, Sheering Lower Road, Sheering Road, Harlow Road, The Street and vice versa.

The Order came into effect on 21st August 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Church Road, Waltham Abbey) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Church Road, Waltham Abbey in the District of Epping Forest, from its junction with Westbrooke Avenue for a distance of approximately 20m in a southerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 15th September 2025 for 1 day, or where stated on a valid permit (MU3093CWC-1035617 – Essex And Suffolk Water). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while works are undertaken by Essex And Suffolk Water.

An alternative route is available via Mott Street, Avey Lane, Pynest Green Lane, Horseshoe Hill, Honey Lane and vice versa.

The Order came into effect on 21st August 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Partridge Road, Harlow) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Partridge Road, Harlow in the District of Harlow, from its junction with Southern Way to its junction with Tendring Road a distance of approximately 730m. The closure is scheduled to commence on 21st August 2025 for 5 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP201EH23875 – Essex County Council). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while works are undertaken by Essex County Council.

An alternative route is available via Southern Way, Abercrombie Way, Tendring Road, and vice versa.

The Order came into effect on 21st August 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Townmead Road, Waltham Abbey) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Townmead Road, Waltham Abbey in the District of Epping Forest, from a point approximately 20m north of its junction with Doulton Gardens for a distance of approximately 40m in a northerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 15th September 2025 for 5 days, or where stated on a valid permit (MU0911S00184071516-0045 – Thames Water). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while new water connection works are undertaken by Thames Water.

An alternative route is available via Doulton Gardens, Sewardstone Street, Fountain Place and vice versa.

The Order came into effect on 21st August 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Workers Road, High Laver) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Workers Road, High Laver in the District of Epping Forest, from a point approximately 345m north west of its junction with High Laver Road for a distance of approximately 105m in a north westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 15th September 2025 for 2 days, or where stated on a valid permit (BC111000WGG6RH7 – Openreach). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while pole replacement works are undertaken by Openreach.

An alternative route is available via Workers Road, Faggotters Lane, Threshers Bush, Tilegate Road, Matching Green, Matching Street, Sheering Road, Moor Hall Road, Matching Road, Matching Green, Harlow Road, Matching Tye Road, High Laver Road and vice versa.

The Order came into effect on 21st August 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
