Hertfordshire, Multiple Roads, Temporary Closures Due To Various Works

What is happening?

HERTFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL:

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF MANLAND AVENUE, HARPENDEN) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Manland Avenue, Harpenden from its junction with B652 Station Road north eastwards for a distance of approximately 30m (“the Road”), except for access.

An alternative route will be via B652 Station Road and Manland Avenue.

The Order is needed because utility service works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

The Order is made, it shall come into force on 16 September 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF FLAMSTEADBURY LANE/ WEST COMMON, REDBOURN) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Flamsteadbury Lane/West Common, Redbourn from its junction with Mansdale Road south eastwards to its junction with Ben Austins, a distance of approximately 194m (“the length of Roads”), except for access.

An alternative route will be via Mansdale Road and Ben Austins.

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the length of Roads.

The Order is made, it shall come into force on 18 September 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the length of Roads.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF PIPERS LANE AND AYRES END LANE, HARPENDEN) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of roads (“the Roads”):

  1. that length of Pipers Lane, Harpenden from its junction with Ayres End Lane eastwards for a distance of approximately 15m.

    An alternative route will be via Pipers Lane, Grove Road, Grove Avenue, Wood End/Austinspeed Road and Pipers Lane.

  2. that length of Ayres End Lane, Harpenden from its junction with Pipers Lane south eastwards for a distance of approximately 15m.

    An alternative route will be via Ayres End Lane, Ferrers Lane, Bull Lane, Annwell Lane, Harpenden Road and Pipers Lane or via Annwell Lane, Ferrers Lane, Grove Green Lane, Annwell Lane, Harpenden Road and Pipers Lane.

    The Order is needed because utility repair works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.

    The Order is made, it shall come into force on 16 September 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF THE SERVICE ROAD FRONTING NOS.61–75 ST PETERS STREET, ST ALBANS) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the service road fronting Nos.61–75 St Peters Street, St Albans from its southernmost junction with A1081 St Peters Street north westwards, north eastwards and south eastwards for its entire length (“the Road”), except for access.

There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.

The Order is needed because utility service works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 15 September 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING AND TEMPORARY WAITING RESTRICTIONS IN PRIMROSE LANE, ALDENHAM) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Primrose Lane, Aldenham from its junction with B462 Radlett Road south westwards and southwards to its junction with Summerhouse Lane, a distance of approximately 518m (“the Road”), except for access.

An alternative route will be via B462 (Radlett Road/Hartspine Lane), A41 (Elton Way/Elton Way West), A411 (Elstree Road/Watford Road), Aldenham Lane, Green Lane and Grange Lane.

ADDITIONALLY all vehicles are prohibited from waiting at any time on both sides of the length of the Road whilst works are in progress.

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 15 September 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF LEMSFORD ROAD AND ALTHORP ROAD, ST ALBANS) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of roads (“the Roads”):

  1. that length of Lemsford Road, St Albans from a point 30m south west of its junction with Althorp Road north eastwards for a distance of approximately 60m.

    An alternative route will be via Lemsford Road, A1057 Hatfield Road, A1081 St Peters Street, B651 Stonecross, Sandpit Lane and Lemsford Road.

  2. that length of Althorp Road, St Albans from its junction with Lemsford Road north westwards for a distance of approximately 60m.

    There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING AND TEMPORARY WAITING RESTRICTIONS IN VARIOUS ROADS IN ST ALBANS, WHEATHAMPSTEAD, SANDRIDGE AND RADLETT) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of roads (“the Roads”), except for access and to prohibit all vehicles from waiting at any time on both sides of these lengths of Roads whilst works are in progress:

  1. that length of A5183 Redbourn Road, St Albans from its roundabout with Redbourn Lane south eastwards to its junction with High Hogg End Lane, a distance of approximately 544m.

    An alternative route will be via A5183 at Albans Road, A414, Redbourn Bypass/Hemel Hempstead Road/Redbourn Road, and vice versa.

  2. that length of B691 Lower Luton Road/Leahemstead Road/Lower Luton Road/Sandridge Green Road/Redbourn Road/Bluehouse Hill) and A5183 Redbourn Road.

  3. that length of B651 Wheathampstead Road, Sandridge from its junction with B651 The Hill south westwards to its junction with B651 High Street, a distance of approximately 2327m.

    An alternative route will be via B651 (The Hill/High Street/Station Road), B653 (Codicote Road/Cory Wright Way/Marford Road/ Brocket Road), Coopers Green Lane, Oaklands Lane, Sandpit Lane, and B651 High Street.

  4. that length of Colney Heath Lane, St Albans from its junction with A1057 Hatfield Road south westwards and south eastwards to its junction with A414 London Colney Roundabout, a distance of approximately 2015m.

    An alternative route will be via A1057 Hatfield Road, Station Road, Smallford Lane and A414 London Colney Roundabout.

  5. that length of Shenley Lane, Radlett from its junction with Williams Way north eastwards, eastwards, north eastwards, eastwards and north eastwards for a distance of approximately 931m.

    An alternative route will be via Shenley Hill, A5183 Watling Street, B556 Harper Lane, B5378 (Shenleybury/Black Lion Hill/London Road) and Radlett Lane.

  6. that length of B651 Lamer Lane, Wheathampstead from its junction with The Slype south eastwards for a distance of approximately 337m.

    An alternative route will be via Kimpton Road, B651 (Ballslough Hill/High Street), B652 (High Street/Kimpton Bottom/Bower Heath Lane), A1081 Lower Luton Road and B651 Lamer Lane.

    The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.

    The Order has been made and shall come into force on 1 September 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.

(TEMPORARY SUSPENSION OF THE PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC ORDER ON PIGGOTSHILL LANE, HARPENDEN) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to temporarily suspend “The Harpenden (Piggotshill Lane) (Prohibition of Through Traffic) Order, 1971” when the existing traffic signs are covered, to enable all vehicular traffic to travel along that length of Piggotshill Lane from its junction with Crabtree Lane north westwards to its junction with Grove Road, a distance of approximately 200m (“the Road”).

The Order is needed because the replacement of existing bollards is proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

The Order has been made and shall come into force on 1 September 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of roads (“the Roads”), except for access:

  1. that length of B651 Stonecross, St Albans from its junction with Avenue Road north eastwards for a distance of approximately 80m.

    An alternative route will be via B651 Stonecross, A1081 (St Peters Street/Harpenden Road), Beech Road and B651 (Sandridge Road/Stonecross).

  2. that length of Avenue Road, St Albans from its junction with B651 Stonecross eastwards for a distance of approximately 100m.

    An alternative route will be via B651 Stonecross, Sandpit Lane, Lemsford Road and Avenue Road.

    The Order is needed because the replacement of existing gas mains is proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.

    The Order has been made and shall come into force on 1 September 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Prospect Road, St Albans from its junction with A5183 Holywell Hill south eastwards for a distance of approximately 100m (“the Road”).

An alternative route will be via A5183 Holywell Hill, A1081 London Road, Watsons Walk, Cottonmill Lane and Prospect Road.

The Order is needed because utility works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

The Order has been made and shall come into force on 2 September 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF PORTLAND STREET, ST ALBANS) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Portland Street, St Albans from a point in line with the boundary of No.2 Portland Street south eastwards for a distance of approximately 23m (“the Road”).

An alternative route will be via A5183 Verulam Road, Hill Street, Mount Pleasant and Portland Street.

The Order is needed because utility works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

The Order has been made and shall come into force on 2 September 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of roads (“the Roads”), except for access and to prohibit all vehicles from waiting at any time on both sides of these lengths of Roads whilst works are in progress:

  1. that length of Arden Grove, Harpenden from its junction with B652 Station Road south eastwards for a distance of approximately 78m.

    An alternative route will be via B652 Station Road, A1081 Luton Road, Bull Road, Southdown Road and Arden Grove.

  2. that length of Highfield Lane, St Albans from its junction with Highfield Park Drive south southwards, south westwards and west southwards to its junction with A414 North Orbital Road, a distance of approximately 1339m.

    An alternative route will be via Highfield Park Drive, A1081 London Road and A414 North Orbital Road.

    The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.

    The Order has been made and shall come into force on 4 September 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.
