Springwell Area - Temporary Traffic Regulation
What is happening?
THE CITY OF SUNDERLAND (CLOSURE OF FOOTWAYS AND ROADS IN SPRINGWELL AREA SUNDERLAND) TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2025
Sunderland City Council gives notice that it intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit pedestrians along the footways and vehicles, bicycles and horses along the roads in the Schedule. The Orders are required to facilitate electricity cable installation works in or near the roads. The Order will come into operation on 22nd September 2025. The maximum duration of the closure under the Order will be 18 months, however it is estimated that all the works will be completed within 9 weeks from commencement of the works. All pedestrians will be prohibited from the footways (except personnel involved in the works) and all vehicles, bicycles and horses will be prohibited from the roads (except vehicles involved in the works) until the works are completed or at such times and to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the display of traffic signs. Alternative routes will be provided via the adjacent highway network. Schedule Closure of Footways and Roads 1. Simonside Road from its junction with Somerset Road to the extended party property boundary of 46 and 48 Simonside Road.2. Simonside Road from its junction with Swindon Road to the extended party property boundary of 10 and 12 Simonside Road. 3. Sunningdale Road North Back from its junction with Swindon Road to its western junction with Sunningdale Road. 4. Somerset Square its entire extent. 5. Seaton Road from its junction with Springbank Road to the extended party property boundary of 6 and 8 Seaton Road.
