Wiltshire, Multiple Traffic Notices, Temporary Closures

What is happening?

SECTION 14(1) OF THE ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984

Notice is hereby given that the Wiltshire Council intends to make Orders to close temporarily to all traffic:

A) C77 (Part), Great Somerford; from its junction with C82 for a distance of approximately 156m in a north easterly direction to enable Wessex Water to carry out defected sewer works and other associated works. Alternative route via C77 (unaffected length) – C66 – C166 – C82 and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 22 September 2025 and the closure will be required for 3 days. B) Chandlers Lane (Part), Bishops Cannings; from its junction with Horton Road for a distance of approximately 450m in a northerly direction to enable Scottish and Southern Power Distribution to carry out tree cutting works and other associated works. Alternative route via Chandlers Lane (unaffected length) – West End – A361 – Horton Road and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 25 September 2025 and the closure will be required between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30 for 1 day. C) C111 (Part), Hilmarton; from its property known as No.01 Spillmans Cottages for a distance of approximately 600m in a south easterly direction to enable Openreach to carry out works to install ducting, four new boxes and other associated works. Alternative route via C111 (unaffected length) – C15 – A3102 – C111 (unaffected length) and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 22 September 2025 and the closure will be required until 26 September 2025. For further information please contact Openreach on 0800 023 2023.

D) C154 (Part), Kington Langley; from its property known as Barn Cottage for a distance of approximately 274m in a north easterly direction to enable Wessex Water to carry out new connection works and other associated works. Alternative route via C154 (unaffected length) – B4069 – Kilverts Way – A350 – C154 (unaffected length) and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 22 September 2025 and the closure will be required for 3 days. For further information please contact Wessex Water on 0345 6003600.

Notice is hereby given that the Wiltshire Council has made Orders to close temporarily to all traffic:

E) C246 (Part), Potterne and Worton;

from its property known as Boundary House for a distance of approximately 110m in a southerly direction to enable Wessex Water to carry out repair mains leak. Alternative route via C246 (unaffected length) – C20 – A360 – C246 (unaffected length) and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 01 September 2025 and the closure will be required for 2 days. For further information please contact Wessex Water on 0345 6004600.

F) A3102 (Part), Calne;

from its roundabout junction with Oxford Road to its junction with Stanier Road to enable Wiltshire Council to carry out carriageway reconstruction works and other associated works. Alternative route via Stanier Road – Oxford Road vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 01 September 2025 and the closure will be required until 19 September 2025. G) Raffin Lane (Part), Pewsey;

from its junction with Raffin Court for a distance of approximately 156m in a westerly direction to enable Openreach to excavate and lay ducting. No alternative route is available. This Order will come into operation on 01 September 2025 and the closure will be required for 3 days. For further information please contact Openreach on 0800 085 9194.

H) Frith Lane (Part), Manningford;

from its junction with C261 to its junction with Primrose Lane to enable Network Rail Infrastructure Ltd to carry out brickwork repairs and clear vegetation. Alternative route via Primrose Lane – Dragon Lane – C52 – A345 – C38 – Hilcott – C261 and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 01 September 2025 and the closure will be required for 5 days. For further information please contact Network Rail Infrastructure Ltd on 07599 534420.

I) Hollow Way (Part), Lyneham and Bradenstoke;

from its junction with Hill View Lane to its junction with Brook Lane to enable Scottish and Southern Power Distribution to carry out works to install a new service connection and other associated works. Alternative route via Hollow Way (unaffected length) – B4069 – Clack Hill – Hollow Way (unaffected length) and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 01 September 2025 and the closure will be required until 06 September 2025. J) Olivemead Lane, Dauntsey;

from its junction with C45 for its entire length to enable Wessex Water to carry out interim to permanent reinstatement works and other associated works.

No alternative route is available.

This Order will come into operation on 03 September 2025 and the closure will be required between the hours of 09:00 and 16:00 for 2 days.

Orders A) to J) will have a maximum duration of 18 months.

The closures and diversion routes will be clearly indicated by traffic signs.

It is anticipated that the works will take the stated duration to complete depending upon weather conditions. Access will be maintained for residents and businesses where possible, although delays are likely due to the nature of the works.

Notice is hereby given that the Wiltshire Council has intends to make Orders to close temporarily to all traffic:

A) A361 Southbound Carriageway (Part), Devizes and Bishops Cannings;

from its roundabout junction with Horton Road for a distance of approximately 2.5km in a north easterly direction.

B) West End (Part), Bishops Cannings;

from its junction with A361 for a distance of approximately 150m in an easterly direction.

And to temporarily introduce a 30mph speed restriction on the following length of road:

C) A361 (Part), Devizes and Bishops Cannings;

from its junction with West End for a distance of approximately 700m in a south westerly direction to enable Wiltshire Council to carry out carriageway resurfacing works and other associated works.

Alternative route A via A361 (unaffected length) – A342 – A3102 – A4 – A361 (unaffected length) and vice versa.

Alternative route B via West End (unaffected length) – Chandlers Lane – Horton Road and vice versa.

The closures, speed restriction and diversion route will be clearly indicated by traffic signs.

This Order will come into operation on 21 September 2025 and the closure will be required between the hours of 19:00 and 06:00 until completed.

06 October 2025. The speed restriction will be required 24 hours a day. It is anticipated that the works will take the stated duration to complete depending upon weather conditions. Access will be maintained for residents and businesses where possible, although delays are likely due to the nature of the works. The Order will have a maximum duration of 18 months. Notice is hereby given that the Wiltshire Council has made Orders to close temporarily to all users:

A) Bridleway 34 (Part), Urchfont;

from its junction with Byway 45, Urchfont to its junction with Bridleway 45, Urchfont.

B) Bridleway 45, Urchfont;

from its junction with Bridleway 34, Urchfont to its junction with Crookwood Lane.

C) Bridleway 12, Easterton;

from its junction with Byway 9, Easterton to its junction with Footpath 7, Potterne to enable access for contractor to complete geotechnical/drainage works to stabilise railway embankment at Forest Farm / Potterne Park Farm.

Alternative route via existing highways and public rights of way. This Order will come into operation on 01 September 2025 and the closure will be required until 28 November 2025.

D) Footpath 30 (Part), Marlborough;

from its junction with Cherry Orchard to its junction with Garside Way to enable widening and upgrading of existing footpath.

Alternative route via existing highways and public rights of way. This Order will come into operation on 01 September 2025 and the closure will be required until 10 October 2025.

HIGHWAYS ACT 1980

WILTSHIRE COUNCIL

THE WILTSHIRE COUNCIL CREATION ORDER

LAND EAST OF WHISTLEY ROAD, POTTERNE 2025

The above order made on 15 August 2025 under section 26 of the Highways Act 1980 will create a public footpath from Whistley Road, Potterne at OS Grid ref. ST 9899 5921 leading alongside the watercourse and broadly north north east for approximately 195 metres to OS Grid ref 9916 5929 with a width of 1 metre and as shown on the order map.

A copy of the order and order map have been placed and may be seen free of charge from 0900 - 1700 Mon - Fri at the offices of Rights of Way and Countryside, County Hall, Trowbridge, BA14 8JN. Copies of the order may be bought there at the cost of five pounds or supplied by email on request from sally.madgwick@wiltshire.gov.uk

Any representations about or objections to the order may be sent in writing to Sally Madgwick, Rights of Way and Countryside, Wiltshire Council, County Hall, Trowbridge, BA14 8JN not later than 1700 26 September 2025. Please state the grounds on which they are made. If no such representations or objections are duly made, or if any so made are withdrawn, the Wiltshire Council may confirm the order as an unopposed order.

If the order is sent to the Secretary of State for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs for confirmation any representations and objections which have not been withdrawn will be sent with the order.

HIGHWAYS ACT 1980

WILTSHIRE COUNCIL

THE WILTSHIRE COUNCIL POTTERNE 80 (PART) EXTINGUISHMENT ORDER NO. 2 2025

The above order, made on 15 August 2025, under section 118 of the Highways Act 1980, will extinguish the public footpath Potterne no. 80 running from Whistley Road, Potterne at OS Grid ref. ST 990 592 past Whistley Mill to OS Grid ref. ST 992 593 with 0.9 metre approximate length 170 metres as shown on the order map.

A copy of the order and order map have been placed and may be seen free of charge from 0900 - 1700 Mon - Fri at the offices of Rights of Way and Countryside, County Hall, Trowbridge, BA14 8JN.
