Lower Allithwaite, Temporary Road Closure Due To Tampering Works On Level Crossing

What is happening?

WESTMORLAND AND FURNESS COUNCIL (U5167 WRAYSHOLME LANE, LOWER ALLITHWAITE) (TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable tampering works on the level crossing to be carried out (“the Works”), Westmorland and Furness Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along that section of Wraysholme Lane, Lower Allithwaite from its junction with Willow Lane, extending in a north easterly direction for approx. 180 metres.

A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times and a suitable alternative route for vehicles will be signed and available via the B5277 Allithwaite Road, Moor Lane, U5168 Willow Lane and the unrestricted section of Wraysholme Lane.

The Order will come into operation on 17th September 2025 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restriction will only be required for 1 night, during the hours of 2240 and 0540 and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
