A3 Trunk Road - Prohibition of Certain Classes of Traffic And Pedestrians Order

What is happening?

THE A3 TRUNK ROAD (GUILDFORD)
(PROHIBITION OF CERTAIN CLASSES OF TRAFFIC AND PEDESTRIANS) ORDER 2025

National Highways Limited(a) gives notice that they propose to make an Order under powers conferred by Sections 1(1), 2(1) and (3), and 4(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984(b) on the A3 Trunk Road in the District of Guildford in the County of Surrey.

The effect of the Regulation would be to prohibit (subject to listed exemptions) any pedestrian, cyclist (including those using an Electrically Assisted Pedal Cycle), and any person using any other form of personal transport, either wholly powered by a motor, motor-assisted, or self-propelled, from entering or proceeding into the footway adjacent to:

(a) the southbound carriageway of the A3 from the top of the ramp leading to St Johns Road to Wilderness Road;

(b) the southbound carriageway of the A3 from Wilderness Road to Manor Way; and

(c) the southbound carriageway of the A3 from a point 105 metres west of the centreline of its junction with Manor Way to Farnham Road.

A copy of the draft Order, plans illustrating the proposals and alternative routes, and a statement explaining why National Highways Limited proposes to make the Order may be inspected at: National Highways Guildford Office, Reception, Bridge House, Walnut Tree Close, Guildford, Surrey, GU1 4LZ (During office hours weekdays). until the end of the objection period, 19th September 2025.

Any person desiring to object or make representations to National Highways Limited’s proposal, should send, not later than 19th September 2025, a written statement of his or her representation or objection and of the grounds thereof to the project team and address at the bottom of this notice, quoting the reference NH/SE/2025/A3/GUILDFORD FOOTWAYS.

Information provided in response to this consultation, including personal information, may be subject to publication or disclosure in accordance with the access to information regimes (these are primarily the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA), the Data Protection Act 1998 (DPA) and the Environmental Information Regulations 2004).
