What is happening?

Essex County Council

(Butt Road, Colchester) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic & Temporary Suspension of One Way) & (Wellington Street, Colchester) (Temporary Suspension of One Way) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

The closure/suspensions are scheduled to commence on 14th September 2025 for 2 days, or where stated on a valid permit (AZ7011001436262 – Cadent). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure/suspensions are required for the safety of the public and workforce while new gas connection works are undertaken by Cadent.

Alternative routes available via:

  1. A134, B1025, Berechurch Road, Berechurch Hall Road, B1026 and vice versa.

  2. Wellington Street, West Street, South Street, Chapel Street South, A134 and vice versa.

The Order came into effect on 21st August 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Chapel Street, Rowhedge)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order:

To temporarily close that length of Chapel Street, Rowhedge in the City of Colchester, from its junction with Head Street for a distance of approximately 20m in a north westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 12th September 2025 for 1 day, or where stated on a valid permit (BC0080GEAA0938087 - Openreach).

The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while new underground connection works are undertaken by Openreach.

An alternative route is available via Head Street, Chapel Street and vice versa.

The Order came into effect on 21st August 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Coles Oak Lane, Dedham)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order:

To temporarily close that length of Coles Oak Lane, Dedham in the City of Colchester, from a point approximately 355m north west of the junction with Colchester Road for a distance of approximately 55m in a north westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 8th September 2025 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (MT00110276921 – Affinity Water). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while boundary box replacement works are undertaken by Affinity Water.

An alternative route is available via Coles Oak Lane, Ipswich Road, Stratford Road, Colchester Road, Coles Oak Lane and vice versa.

The Order came into effect on 21st August 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Fishponds Hill, Great Horkesley/Little Horkesley)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order:

To temporarily close that length of Fishponds Hill, Great Horkesley/Little Horkesley in the City of Colchester, from its junction with London Road to its junction with Mayland Road a distance of approximately 790m. The closure is scheduled to commence on 8th September 2025 for 9 days, or where stated on a valid permit EP201EH2385305 & EP201EH2385306 & EP201EH2385264 – Essex County Council).

The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while drainage works are undertaken by Essex County Council.

An alternative route is available via London Road, Horkesley Hill, Water Lane, Mayland Road and vice versa.

The Order came into effect on 21st August 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Gosbecks View, Colchester)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order:

To temporarily close that length of Gosbecks View, Colchester in the City of Colchester, from a point approximately 60m south west of its junction with Gosbecks Road for a distance of approximately 20m in a south westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 9th September 2025 for 7 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EC30022751431 – UK Power Networks). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while new connection works are undertaken by UK Power Networks.

No alternative route is available.

The Order came into effect on 21st August 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Heath Road, Fordham Heath)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order:

To temporarily close that length of Heath Road, Fordham Heath in the City of Colchester, from its junction with Wood Lane for a distance of approximately 30m in a south easterly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 9th September 2025 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (AD03166232493/1 – Anglian Water). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while frame and chamber replacement works are undertaken by Anglian Water.

An alternative route is available via Wood Lane, Spring Lane and vice versa.

The Order came into effect on 21st August 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(St Andrews Avenue, Colchester)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order:

To temporarily close that length of St Andrews Avenue, Colchester in the City of Colchester, from a point approximately 120m north west of its junction with The Chase for a distance of approximately 35m in a north westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 8th September 2025 for 5 days, or where stated on a valid permit (AD03166304207 – Anglian Water). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while pipe repair works are undertaken by Anglian Water.

No diversion route is available. (with access only to St Andrews Avenue).

The Order came into effect on 21st August 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
