Durham, Temporary Footpath Closure Due To Sewer Cleanse & CCTV Survey Works

What is happening?

The County Council of Durham

(Public Right of Way Public Footpath No.52, Durham City Parish) (Temporary Footpath Closure) Order 2025

The Council proposes to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, to prohibit all pedestrian traffic from proceeding on the following lengths of footpath a 594 metres length of Footpath 52, Durham City from the west side of Framwellgate Bridge in a southerly direction to the western side of Prebends Bridge to enable sewer cleanse and CCTV survey works to be undertaken. Throughout the period of closure, a diversion will be available to pedestrian traffic via footpath no. 61 between the eastern side of Framwellgate Bridge and the eastern side of Prebends Bridge. The maximum duration of the Order is 6 months. The proposed works are to commence at 8am on 15/9/2025 and are anticipated to be completed 12 days. On occasions, alternative dates for the closure may be necessary and these will be signed on site accordingly.
