Durham, Temporary Footpath Closure Due To Remedial Works Following Erosion/Land Slip

What is happening?

The County Council of Durham

(Public Rights of Way, Footpath Number 1 Belmont Parish, Durham) (Temporary Footpath Closure) Order 2025

The above-named Order made by the Council on 14/2/2025, under section 14 (1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, and which became operational on 24/2/2025 has been continued in force from 24/8/25, as approved by the Secretary of State for Transport, until 31/8/2026 or until completion of the works, whichever is the earlier. The effect of the Order is to prohibit all pedestrian traffic from proceeding on the following length of footpath. A 687 metre length of Footpath Number 1, Belmont Parish between its junctions with Footpath Number 2, Belmont Parish, Durham to enable remedial works following erosion/land slip to be undertaken. An alternative route will be available to pedestrian traffic via Footpath Number 2.
