Honiton Road, Temporary 40mph Speed Limit Due To Pose Testing Works

What is happening?

Somerset Council B3170 Honiton Road, Taunton in the Parishes of Corfe and Pitminster (Temporary 40mph Speed Limit) Order 2025

Somerset Council in exercise of its powers under Section 14 (1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, intends to make an Order, the effect of which will be to introduce a temporary 40mph Speed Limit as specified in the Schedule below. This Order will come into operation on the 11th day of September 2025 and will remain in force for eighteen months.

The Works are expected to commence on the 19th day of September 2025 for one day (between 09:30 hours and 15:30 hours) to enable Openreach to carry out pole testing works. The restriction will only apply when indicated by traffic signs.

Statement of reasons for making the Order a) because works are being or are proposed to be executed on or near the road, or b) because of the likelihood of danger to the public, or of serious damage to the road, which is not attributable to such works.
