Dorset, Multiple Roads, Temporary Closures Due To Various Works

What is happening?

Temporary Closure Of Timber Hill, Lyme Regis

DORSET COUNCIL intend, not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. All vehicles will be prohibited from proceeding along TIMBER HILL, LYME REGIS between its junction with A3052 and The Ledges, a distance of approximately 70 metres. The order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations, which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users. It will come into operation on 08 September 2025 and will remain in force for 18 months, however it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 10 October 2025.

This Order will enable SGN, safe access to carry out gas mains replacement.

An alternative vehicular route will be signed using: A3052

JAN BRITTON, Executive Director for Place Services - Dorset Council, County Hall, Dorchester DT1 1XJ. Any person who uses or permits the use of a vehicle in contravention of the Notice will be liable on summary conviction to a fine not exceeding £1000.

Temporary closure of B3164, Broadwindsor

DORSET COUNCIL intend, not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. All vehicles will be prohibited from proceeding along B3164, BROADWINDSOR between its junction with High Street and its junction with Back Lane (B3162), a distance of approximately 90 metres. The order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations, which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users. It will come into operation on 15 September 2025 and will remain in force for 18 months, however it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 26 September 2025.

This Order will enable South Coast Traffic Management, to facilitate wall repairs, which are in a state of disrepair.

An alternative vehicular route will be signed using: B3162 - B3165 - A356 - A3066

Temporary Closure Of Shipton Lane, Shipton Gorge

DORSET COUNCIL intend, not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. All vehicles will be prohibited from proceeding along SHIPTON LANE, SHIPTON GORGE, between the entrance to Hillcrest and the entrance to Green Trees, a distance of approximately 255 metres. The Order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users. It will come into operation on 15 September 2025 and will remain in force for 18 months, however, it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 03 October 2025.

This Order will enable Dorset Council to carry out carriageway maintenance works.

A locally signed diversion route will be put in place to enable traffic to travel around the closed section.
