Shute Lane, Back Street and Withmoor Drove - Temporary Closure Will Enable Wales and West Utilities to Replace Gas Mains

What is happening?

Temporary Closure of Shute Lane, Back Street and Withmoor Drove 

Somerset Council in exercise of its powers under Section 14 (1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, have made an Order prohibiting all traffic from proceeding along: Shute Lane - from the junction with Langport Road to the junction with Back Street; Back Street - from the junction with Shute Lane to the junction with Withmoor Drove; and Withmoor Drove - from the junction with Back Street, southwards for a distance of 230 metres A total distance of 1051 metres. 

This Order will enable Wales and West Utilities to replace gas mains. 

The Order becomes effective on 28th August 2025 and will remain in force for eighteen months. The works are expected to commence on 1st September 2025 and last until 26th September 2025 between the hours of 00:00 - 23:59 for a total of 26 days.
