Folkestone and Hythe, Multiple Temporary Traffic Regulation Notices

What is happening?

HIGHWAYS

Kent County Council, acting in exercise of its powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, makes or intends to make the following Orders.

FOLKESTONE AND HYTHE AREA

A260 Canterbury Road, Swingfield, CT15 7HZ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2025

To allow resurfacing works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of A260 Canterbury Road, Swingfield, on or after 11th September 2025 for up to 13 days or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed between the junctions of Reece Lane and Snode Hill, between the hours of 20:00 and 05:00 only, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any Southbound through traffic is via A260 Canterbury Road, A260 The Street, A260 Canterbury Road, A260 Old Dover Road, A260 Box Iron Road, A2 Barham Slip Eastbound On, A2 Dover Road, A2 Between Whitfield Roundabout And Junction With A256, A2 Between Junction With A256 And Duke Of Yorks Roundabout, A2 Jubilee Way, A256 York Street, B2011 Folkestone Road, A20 Hougham Slip Westbound On, A20 Trunk Road, A20 Dual Carriage Way, A260 Alkham Valley Road, A260 Canterbury Road and A260 Spitfire Way.

The alternative route for any Northbound through traffic is via A260 Spitfire Way, A20 Dual Carriage Way, A20 Trunk Road, A20 Archcliffe Road, A20 Limekiln Street, A20 Snargate Road, A20 Townwall Street, A2 Jubilee Way, A2 Between Junction With A256 And Duke Of Yorks Roundabout, A2 Dover Road, A2 Between Whitfield Roundabout And Junction With A256, A2 Dover Road, A2 Barham Slip Westbound Off, A260 Canterbury Road, A260 The Street and A260 Canterbury Road.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

A260 The Tram Road, Ryland Place & A2033 Tontine Street, Folkestone (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING & SUSPENSION OF BUS LANE) TEMPORARY ORDER 2025

To allow resurfacing works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of A260 The Tram Road, Ryland Place & A2033 Tontine Street, Folkestone, on or after 22nd September 2025 for up to 3 days or until the works have been completed.

Restrictions will be imposed between the hours of 20:00 and 05:00 only, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

A260 The Tram Road will be closed between the junctions of Martello Road and London Street.

Ryland Place will be closed at the junction of A260 The Tram Road.

A suspension of bus lane will be imposed on part of A2033 Tontine Street. The restriction will be imposed the entire length.

The alternative route for any Southbound through traffic is via A260 The Tram Road, A260 Southern Way, A260 Dover Road, A260 Hill Road, A260 Hill Road Roundabout, A260 Hill Road Dual Carriageway, A259 Canterbury Road, A259 Black Bull Road, A2033 Foord Road, A2033 New Street, A2033 Bradstone Road, A2033 Dover Road, A2033 Tontine Street and A2033 Harbour Street.

The alternative route for any Northbound through traffic is via A2033 Harbour Street, A2033 Tontine Street, A2033 Dover Road, A2033 Grace Hill, A2033 Bradstone Road, A2033 Dover Road, A260 Southern Way and A260 The Tram Road.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Canterbury Road, Folkestone, CT19 5EL (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2025

To allow maintenance works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of Canterbury Road, Folkestone, on or after 11th September 2025 for up to 2 days or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed outside number 126, between the hours of 20:00 and 05:00 only, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Canterbury Road, Marshall Street, Invicta Road, A259 Canterbury Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Canterbury Road, Ottinge, CT4 6XL (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2025

To allow utility works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of Canterbury Road, Ottinge, on or after 26th September 2025 for up to 5 hours or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed between the junctions of Boyke Lane and Shuttlesfield Lane, between the hours of 09:30 and 14:30 only, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Canterbury Road, Longage Hill, The Minnis, High Minnis, Mockbeggar, B2068 Stone Street, B2068 Street End, B2068 Faussett Hill, B2068 Nackington Road, B2068 Old Dover Road, B2068 St Lawrence Road, A2050 New Dover Road, A2050 Dover Road, A2 Dover Road Slip East On, A2 Dover Road Slip East Onoff, A2 Dover Road Slip East Off, Bekesbourne Road, Town Hill, High Street, Bridge Hill, Bonny Bush Hill, Black Robin Lane, Valley Road, Derringstone Hill, Elham Valley Road, Canterbury Road, High Street, New Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Fishers Lane, Paddlesworth (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2025

To allow carriageway repairs to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of Fishers Lane, Paddlesworth, on or after 8th September 2025 for up to 3 days or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed from the junction of Paddlesworth Lane to outside Sole Farm, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

There is no alternative route. Every effort will be made to maintain access for residents whenever it is safe to do so.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

The folkestone rotary Half Marathon (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2025

The Folkestone Rotary Half Marathon

Kent County Council intends to make an Order for the safety of the public whilst an event is being held on the highway to temporarily prohibit the use of Vehicles on the roads detailed below.

The Order will be effective on Sunday 28th September 2025. The event is planned to last 1 hour between 09:30 hours and 10:30 hours.  These restrictions will be effective when the appropriate signage is in place.

Nothing in the Order will apply to:

•  
Any Vehicle being used for Ambulance purposes, Coastguard/RNLI, Fire Brigade or Police services.

•  
Anything done by a Statutory Undertaker vehicle in connection with an emergency repair.

•  
Anything done with the permission or at the direction of an Event Organiser or a Police Constable in Uniform.

Restriction: Road Closures on 28th September 2025.

Road Name: Cliffe Road and adjoining Dixwell Road, between 09:30 hours and 10:30 hours

Extent: From Cliff Road to The Leas

Road Name: West Terrace, between 10:00 hours 10:30 hours

Extent: Between Sandgate Road and Road of Remembrance.

Road Name: West Cliff Gardens, between 10:00 hours and 10:30 hours

Extent: Between Sandgate Road and Pound Way.

Road Name: Pound Way, between 10:00 hours and 10:30 hours

Extent: The entire length.
