What is happening?
HERTFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL:
(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF CODICOTE ROAD, WHITWELL/WHITWELL ROAD, CODICOTE)
ORDER 2025
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Codicote Road, Whitwell/Whitwell Road, Codicote from its junction with B651 Hitchin Road south eastwards, north eastwards, south eastwards and north eastwards to its junction with B656 Hitchin Road, a distance of approximately 3769m (“the Road”), except for access.
An alternative route will be via B651 (Hitchin Road/Whitwell Road) and B656 (London Road/ Hitchin Road).
The Order is needed because utility service works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.
If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 15 September 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING AND TEMPORARY WAITING RESTRICTIONS IN
A414 HERTFORD ROAD, HATFIELD) ORDER 2025
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the eastbound carriageway of A414 Hertford Road, Hatfield from the A414 Great North Road roundabout south eastwards for a distance of approximately 636m (“the Road”).
An alternative route will be via A414 Great North Road, A6129 (Stanborough Road/ Broadwater Road), A1000 Queensway and A414 Hertford Road.
ADDITIONALLY all vehicles are prohibited from waiting at any time on both sides of this length of the Road whilst works are in progress.
The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.
The Order has been made and shall come into force on 1 September 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING AND TEMPORARY WAITING RESTRICTIONS IN VARIOUS ROADS IN
WOOLMER GREEN, DATCHWORTH, HATFIELD, NORTH MYMMS, SOUTH MYMMS,
WHEATHAMPSTEAD, AYOT ST LAWRENCE AND WELWYN) ORDER 2025
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of roads (“the Roads”), except for access and to prohibit all vehicles from waiting at any time on both sides of the lengths of Roads whilst works are in progress:-
that length of Mardleybury Road, Woolmer Green/Datchworth and Datchworth Green, Datchworth from its junction with B197 London Road south eastwards, north eastwards and south eastwards to its junction with Knebworth Lane, a distance of approximately 1154m.
An alternative route will be via B197 (London Road/Stevenage Road/London Road/ Monkswood Way/ A602 (Broadhall Way/Hooks Cross), High Street, Station Road, Watton Road and Datchworth Green.
that length of Southfield Road, Hatfield from its junction with Dixons Hill Road to a point 26m north eastwards, a distance of approximately 1088m.
An alternative route will be via Dixons Hill Road, Swanland Road, Hawkshead Lane, Bluebridge Road and Southfield Road.
that length of Warrengate Road, North Mymms/South Mymms from its junction with Dixons Hill Road south eastwards and north eastwards to its junction with Blackhorse Lane, a distance of approximately 1822m.
An alternative route will be via Swanland Road.
that length of Codicote Road, Wheathampstead/Ayot St Lawrence from its westernmost junction with Bride Hall Lane north eastwards to its junction with St Albans Road, a distance of approximately 2822m.
An alternative route will be via Codicote Road, B653 Codicote Road, B651 Lamer Lane, Kimpton Road, B651 Ballslough Hill, Kimpton Road (East), Kimpton Road, Heath Lane, B656 High Street and St Albans Road.
that length of Pennyfathers Lane, Welwyn from its junction with Harmer Green Lane south eastwards to its junction with Welwyn Public Bridleway No.036, a distance of approximately 321m.
There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.
The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.
The Order has been made and shall come into force on 1 September 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF THE SERVICE ROAD FRONTING NOS.19–28 CRANBORNE PARADE, POTTERS BAR) ORDER 2025
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the service road fronting Nos.19-28 Cranborne Parade, Potters Bar from its junction with Mimm’s Hall Road north westwards and north eastwards to its junction with B556 Mutton Lane, a distance of approximately 103m (“the Road”).
An alternative route will be via Mimms Hall Road, Deepdene, Wroxham Gardens and B556 Mutton Lane.
The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.
The Order has been made and shall come into force on 3 September 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF B156 NORTHAW ROAD WEST, NORTHAW) ORDER 2025
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of B156 Northaw Road West, Northaw from its junction with Park Road north westwards for a distance of approximately 251m (“the Road”), except for access.
An alternative route will be via B156 Northaw Road West, Cattlegate Road, Coopers Lane Road and B156 (Coopers Lane/Judges Hill/Northaw Road West).
The Order is needed because utility service works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.
The Order has been made and shall come into force on 31 August 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.
