What is happening?
EAST SUSSEX COUNTY COUNCIL
ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984
The East Sussex (U6209 Freezeland Lane, Bexhill)
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
To allow BT Openreach to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;
Temporary Road Closure
Freezeland Lane – from the junction with A269 Ninfield Road to the junction with C345 Watermill Lane.
A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via A269 Ninfield Road – A2691 Haven Brook Avenue – C345 Watermill Lane and vice versa.
The Order commences 4 September 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken on 4 September 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (C703 Potmans Lane, Catsfield)
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
To allow East Sussex Highways to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;
Temporary Road Closure
Potmans Lane – from the junction with C345 Church Road to the junction with U6115 Spratts Lane.
A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via C703 Potmans Lane – A269 Ninfield Road, Bexhill Road – B2204 Catsfield Road, The Stream, The Green – C345 Church Road and vice versa.
The Order commenced 12 June 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 1 and 8 September 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (U3106 West Hill Road, St Leonards-on-Sea)
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
To allow Amber TM to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;
Temporary Road Closure
West Hill Road – from the junction with U3110 Boscobel Road to the junction with P3224 Essenden Road.
A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic westbound via U3106 West Hill Road – U3138 Quarry Hill – U3139 Maze Hill, East Ascent, Quarry Hill, Undercliff – A259 Marina, Grosvenor Crescent, Bexhill Road – U3106 West Hill Road and eastbound via U3106 West Hill Road – A259 Bexhill Road, Grosvenor Crescent, Marina – U3139 Burton Way, Quarry Hill – U3106 West Hill Road. The Order commences 1 September 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 1 and 14 September 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (B2244 Junction Road, Staplecross)
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2024
To allow East Sussex Highways to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;
Temporary Road Closure
Junction Road – from the junction with B2165 Cripps Corner Road to the junction with P6942 Compass Park.
A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via B2165 Cripps Corner Road – B2089 Swailes Green, Hooks Beech – A21(T) Vinehall Road, Johns Cross Road, Robertsbridge bypass, Northbridge Street roundabout, Silverhill, London Road – A229 Coopers Corner, Horns Hill – A229 Horns Hill (KCC), Horns Road (KCC) – B2244 Hastings Road (KCC) – B2244 Hawkhurst Road, Junction Road and vice versa.
The Order commenced 2 September 2024 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 1 and 5 September 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (U3190 Russell Street, Hastings)
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
To allow SGN to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;
Temporary Road Closure
Russell Street – from the junction with U3189 Castle Hill Passage to the junction with A2101 Albert Road.
A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via U3189 Castle Hill Passage – U3186 Castle Hill Road – A2101 Albert Road.
To maintain access for residents only, a suspension of one-way traffic will be in place (revert to two-way traffic) and a reversal of one-way traffic on Castle Hill Passage (traffic to travel eastbound), during these works. The Order commences 1 September 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 1 and 9 September 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

To allow SGN to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following lengths of road;

Ivyhouse Lane – from the junction with U3254 Ivyhouse Lane to Hazel Bank.
Diversion via U3254 Ivyhouse Lane – B2093 The Ridge, Old London Road – A259 Rye Road – A259(T) Winchelsea Road, White Hart Hill, Winchelsea Road, Rye Road – C22 Butchers Lane – C639 Ivyhouse Lane and vice versa & via C639 Chowns Hill – B2093 The Ridge – C414 Stonestile Lane – C22 The Moor, Three Oaks Road – C639 Ivyhouse Lane and vice versa.
Chowns Hill – from the junction with B2093 The Ridge to the junction with C639 Ivyhouse Lane.
Diversion via B2093 The Ridge – C414 Stonestile Lane – C22 The Moor, Three Oaks Road – C639 Ivyhouse Lane and vice versa.
A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible. The Order commences 1 September 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 1 September and 2 November 2025 depending upon the weather conditions. (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
To allow East Sussex Highways to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;
Temporary Road Closure
Barnets Hill – from the junction with A268 Two Hovens to the junction with P6838 Malthouse Lane.

The East Sussex (A268 Rye Hill, Rye & Rye Road, Playden)
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
To allow East Sussex Highways to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following lengths of road;
Temporary Road Closures
Rye Hill – from the junction with C296 Military Road to the junction with A268 Rye Road.
Restriction is anticipated to be in place between 22 and 28 September 2025.
Rye Road – from the junction with C295 Houghton Green Lane to the junction with A268 Rye Hill.
Restriction is anticipated to be in place between 18 and 25 September 2025.
