What is happening?

TEMPORARY TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT ORDER

THE LONDON BOROUGH OF BARKING AND DAGENHAM

(THORNHILL GARDENS, BARKING) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF VEHICULAR TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025

NOTICE OF INTENT

  1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that in order to facilitate a crane lift to enable a replacement sub-station, the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham intends to make a Temporary Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

  2. The order is expected to come in to effect on Monday 15 September 2025. The works expected for:

    • Crane lift to enable a replacement sub-station to take 17 days to complete. Completion date estimated as Wednesday 1 October 2025 with the work expected to be undertaken in two phases between the hours of 9.00 pm on 15 September 2025 and 5.00 am on 16 September 2025 during Phase 1 and between the hours of 9.00 pm on 30 September 2025 and 5.00 am on 1 October 2025 during Phase 2.

However, the Order will remain in force for 18 months to be re-introduced should further works be required.

  1. When the works are taking place and the appropriate traffic signs are being displayed the Order will temporarily: –

    • Phases 1 and 2

      • Prohibit all vehicular traffic (Except for Marshalled Access) on Thornhill Gardens, both sides, from a point 81.5 metres east of its junction with Larks Grove for a distance of 38 metres in an easterly direction.

      • Suspend the Resident Permit Holders Only Zone E Mon–Fri 8.30am–5.30pm bays on:

        • Thornhill Gardens, north side, opposite to Nos. 72 to 84 Thornhill Gardens.

        • Thornhill Gardens, north-east side, outside Nos. 49 to 95 Thornhill Gardens.
