What is happening?

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 – SECTION 14(1)

Notice of Temporary Traffic Order

Cumnor/North Hinksey, B4044 Eynsham Road

Temporary Prohibition of Driving and Waiting and No Parking

Date of Order: 4 August 2025

Came into force: 11 August 2025

This Order was introduced because of road improvements in the whole length of the B4044 Eynsham Road from its junction with Cumnor Hill to its junction with Nobles Lane, as follows:

1.) Drainage works, kerb and footway repairs – which are anticipated to be completed 1 September 2025. Works will operate between 07:00 and 19:00hrs. The order is to temporarily prohibit waiting in the whole length of the road.

2.) followed on 3 September by resurfacing of the whole road which is anticipated to be completed 22 September. Works will operate between 20:00 and 06:00hrs. The order is to temporarily prohibit driving in the whole length of the road.

The alternative route for traffic affected by the closure is via the B4017, Oxford Road, Cumnor Hill, B4044 and vice versa

Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the prohibitions are in force. Exemptions are included for emergency services and for the works and access. This Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner. (Ref: CM/12.6.320/P0340)

Ardington, Well Street

Prohibition of Through Traffic

Date of Order: 25 August 2025

Coming into force: 4 September 2025

This Order is introduced because of excavation for fibre cabling on behalf of Gigaclear works which are anticipated to be completed 15 September 2025. This is a 24 hour road closure.

The effect of the Order is to temporarily prohibit any vehicle proceeding in the section of Well Street from outside the War Memorial to the junction into Sheephouse Farm. Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force. Exemptions are included for emergency services and for the works and for access to premises which are only accessible from the closed section of road. The alternative route for traffic will be signed locally.

This Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner. (Ref: T16116/AC)

Notice of Temporary Traffic Order

West Hanney, Main Street

Prohibition of Vehicles

Date of Order: 15 September 2025

Coming into force: 22 September 2025

This Order is being introduced to facilitate drainage maintenance and associated works which are anticipated to be completed 7 November 2025. This is a 24 hour road closure and no waiting.

The effect of the Order is to temporarily prohibit any vehicle proceeding or waiting in the section of Main Street between The Meads/Church Street and Northmead Lane. Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force. Exemptions are included for emergency services and for the works and for access to premises which are only accessible from the closed section of road. Access to residents will be maintained via either Winter Lane or from East Hanney. Access to all residents of Lyford will be maintained via either Winter Lane or Northmead Lane only. The alternative route for through traffic will be west along Northmead Lane, to bear north up to Charney Bassett, to turn back west along Lyford Lane, to turn south along Winter Lane, thus returning to West Hanney village, and vice versa.

This Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner. (Ref: T16121/AC)

Southmoor, Charney Road

Prohibition of Through Traffic and Waiting

Date of Order: 11 August 2025

Coming into force: 20 August 2025

This Order is being introduced because of resurfacing works which are anticipated to be completed 28 August 2025. Works will operate between 19:30 and 06:00hrs daily.

The effect of the Order is to temporarily prohibit any vehicle proceeding or waiting in the section of Charney Road between the A420 and Spring Hill. Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force. Exemptions are included for emergency services and for the works and for access to premises which are only accessible from the closed section of road. The alternative route for traffic is via Spring Hill, Faringdon Road, A415, A420 and vice versa.

This Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner. (Ref: T16049/AC)

Stoke Talmage, Road between Manor Farm & Lower Farm

Prohibition of Through Traffic

Date of Order: 26 August 2025

Coming into force: 1 September 2025

This Order is being introduced because of fibre cable installations which are anticipated to take 8 days to complete. The effect of the Order is to temporarily prohibit vehicles proceeding in the section of road between Manor Farm & Lower Farm, and access road to Stoke Talmage. Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force. Exemptions are included for emergency services and for the works and for access to premises which are only accessible from the closed section of road. The alternative traffic route is via the A40 – B4009 – Knightbridge Lane and vice-versa. This Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner. (Ref: T16082/MR)

Prohibition of Through Traffic

Date of Order: 25 August 2025

Coming into force: 1 September 2025

This Order is being introduced because of fibre cable ducting works which are anticipated to take 3 weeks to complete. The effect of the Order is to temporarily prohibit vehicles proceeding in part of Judds Lane. Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force. Exemptions are included for emergency services and for the works and for access to premises which are only accessible from the closed section of road. There is no suitable diversion from this location. This Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner. (Ref: T16083/MR)

Prohibition of Through Traffic

Date of Order: 1 September 2025

Coming into force: 8 September 2025

This Order is being introduced because of fibre cabling excavation and installations which are anticipated to take 10 days to complete. The effect of the Order is to temporarily prohibit vehicles proceeding in the section of Road between Crocker End & Soundess House. Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force. Exemptions are included for emergency services and for the works and for access to premises which are only accessible from the closed section of road. There is no alternative route for this road closure, but access only to residents will be maintained. This Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner. (Ref: T16194/MR)

Prohibition of Through Traffic

Date of Order: 1 September 2025

Coming into force: 8 September 2025

This Order is being introduced because of new water connection works which are anticipated to take 1 month to complete. The effect of the Order is to temporarily prohibit vehicles proceeding in the section of Reading Road, between Highlands House & opposite Holly House. Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force. Exemptions are included for emergency services and for the works and for access to premises which are only accessible from the closed section of road. The alternative route for traffic is via Station Road – A4155 and vice-versa. This Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner. (Ref: T16342/MR)
