NOTICE OF CONFIRMATION OF A PUBLIC PATH ORDER

TOWN & COUNTRY PLANNING ACT 1990

SECTION 257

TORFAEN COUNTY BOROUGH COUNCIL

DIVERSION OF PUBLIC FOOTPATH NO. 216 (PART) AT ST DIALS, CWMBRAN

On 13 August 2025 Torfaen County Borough Council Confirmed the above Order.

The effect of the Order as Confirmed will be to divert a section of Public Footpath No. 216 at St Dials in the Community of Cwmbran which commences at its junction with St Dials Road (GR ST 2895 9512) at the north side of the property known as 12 St Dials Road. It then proceeds in a south-westerly direction for 305 metres or thereabouts and terminates at ST 2873 9493. The total length of the path to be diverted is 165 metres or thereabouts and is shown on the Order Map in a dashed black line from A – B. The path has a natural surface.

An alternative route will be created which will commence at its junction with St Dials Road (GR ST 28898 9506), 50 metres south-south-east of the property known as 12 St Dials Road. It will proceed in a south-south-westerly direction for 55 metres, south-west for 30 metres then west-north-west for 125 metres where it joins with Public Footpath No. 216 (GR ST 2881 9503). The length of the alternative route is approximately 210 metres and is shown on the Order Map in a bold black line from C – D. The new footpath will be approximately 1.5 metres wide.

A copy of the Confirmed Order and the Order Map may be seen free of charge at Torfaen County Borough Council, Civic Centre, Pontypool, NP4 6YB from 09.00 a.m. – 5.00 p.m. Monday to Thursday and 09.00 a.m. – 4.30 p.m. on Friday. Copies of the Order and the map may be bought there at the price of £3.00.

The Order comes into force on 27 August 2025 but if any person aggrieved by the Order desires to question its validity or that of any provision contained in it on the ground that it is not within the powers of the above Act, or on the ground that any requirement of that Act or any regulation made under it has not been complied with in relation to the Confirmation of the Order, he or she may apply to the High Court for any of these purposes under Section 287 of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990 within 6 weeks from the date on which notice is first published as required by paragraph 7 of Schedule 14 to that Act.
