NORTHUMBERLAND COUNTY COUNCIL

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 – SECTION 14(1)

C2 HORNCLIFFE MAINS JUNCTION TO UNION BRIDGE HORNCLIFFE

(TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE) ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Northumberland County Council have made an Order to prohibit the use by vehicular traffic on that section of the C2 Horncliffe Mains Junction to Union Bridge from its junction with Chainbridge House, heading in a northerly direction for a distance of 201 metres continuing on in a south-westerly direction for a length of 53 metres in the County of Northumberland.

The Order is to be effective from the 8th September 2025 until the 10th October 2025. It is expected that the road will only be closed from the 8th September 2025 until the 3rd October 2025 and that the road will be closed at all times during this period.

An alternative route will be available for use whilst the TTRO is in force being C2, C3, C6, A698, A1, B6461 and vice-versa and should the need arise changes may be made to the alternative routes, where possible these changes will be signposted accordingly.

The closure has been requested by Spencer Bridge Engineering Ltd to carry out operational maintenance of the Union Chain Bridge. DATED this 28th day of August 2025.

SECTION 53 OF THE WILDLIFE AND COUNTRYSIDE ACT 1981

DEFINITIVE MAP AND STATEMENT OF PUBLIC RIGHTS OF WAY

FOR THE COUNTY OF NORTHUMBERLAND

DEFINITIVE MAP MODIFICATION ORDER (NO 2) 2025

The above Order, made on 13th August 2025, if confirmed as made, will modify the definitive map and statement for the area by:Former Berwick Borough

Restricted Byway/Bridleway No 10 (Parish of Bamburgh)

Upgrading thereto to restricted byway status, existing Public Bridleway No 10, from Byway Open to All Traffic No 20, 250 metres west of Saddlershall (O.S. Grid Ref NU 1923 3321), in a general south-westerly direction for a distance of 620 metres, to the C64 road, 875 metres east of East Burton Bungalow (NU 1890 3285).

Byway Open to All Traffic No 20 (Parish of Bamburgh)

The Definitive Statement for this existing public right of way will be amended to reflect the upgrade of Bridleway No 10 to Restricted Byway.

If no representations or objections are duly made to the order, or if any so made are withdrawn, the Northumberland County Council, instead of submitting the Order to the Secretary of State may itself confirm the Order. If the Order is submitted to the Secretary of State for the Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, any representations or objections which have not been withdrawn will be sent with it. Bridleway No 18/Footpath No 10 (Parish of North Sunderland)

Upgrading thereto to public bridleway status, part of existing Public Footpath No 10, from the C64 road, 365 metres west of New Shoreston Farm House (O.S. Grid Ref NU 1908 3265), in a north-easterly then south-easterly direction for a distance of 525 metres to a point at New Shoreston Farm Cottages (NU 1954 3266) and adding thereto a public bridleway, from there, in a general north-easterly direction for a distance of 605 metres to Byway Open to All Traffic No 17, at Clashope Cottage (NU 1890 3285).
