Taunton, Temporary Traffic Restrictions Due To Gas Main Replacement Works

What is happening?

Church Lane and Lodes Lane, Taunton in the Parishes of Kingston St Mary and Broomfield

(Temporary Traffic Restrictions) Order 2025

Somerset Council in exercise of its powers under Section 14 (1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, intends to make an Order, the effect of which will be to introduce temporary traffic restrictions as specified in the Schedules below.

This Order will come into operation on the 11th day of September 2025 and will remain in force for eighteen months. The works are to be phased, as signed on site, and expected to commence on the 15th day of September 2025 until the 31st day of October 2025 (24 hours) to enable Wales & West Utilities to carryout gas main replacement works at Mill Cross. The restrictions will only apply when indicated by traffic signs.

Church Lane, Taunton - From the junction with Kingston Road in an easterly direction to the junction with Volis Hill

Temporary One-Way (Southbound Only)

Lodes Lane, Taunton - From the junction with Broomfield Road for its entire length

Schedule 3

Temporary Prohibition of Vehicles

Church Lane, Taunton - From the junction with Kingston Road in an easterly direction for a distance of 183 metres

Statement of reasons for making the Order

a) because works are being or are proposed to be executed on or near the road;

b) because of the likelihood of danger to the public, or of serious damage to the road, which is not attributable to such works.
