A72 Laidlawstiel, Clovenfords - Temporary 30 MPH Speed Limit / High Street, Galashiels - Temporary Closure

(A72 LAIDLAWSTIEL, CLOVENFORDS)

(TEMPORARY 30MPH SPEED RESTRICTION) ORDER 2025

The Scottish Borders Council (A72 Laidlawstiel, Clovenfords) (Temporary 30mph Speed Restriction) Order 2025 has been made under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended. The Order, which has a maximum duration of 18 months, will come into force at 16:00 on 30 August 2025 and is expected to remain in effect until 16:00 on 17 October 2025. The Order is required for urgent wall repairs.

When the Order comes into effect no person shall drive or cause or permit to be driven any vehicle at a speed exceeding 30mph along the A72 at Laidlawstiel, Clovenfords.

(HIGH STREET, GALASHIELS)

(TEMPORARY CLOSING) ORDER 2025

The Scottish Borders Council (High Street, Galashiels) (Temporary Closing) Order 2025 has  been made under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended. The Order, which has a maximum duration of 18 months, will come into force at 19:00 on 30 August 2025 and is expected to remain in effect until 06:00 on 1 September 2025 -  24 hour closure. The Order is required for Scottish Water Works.

When the Order comes into effect no person shall drive or cause or permit to be driven any vehicle along High Street, Galashiels.

The alternative route for northbound traffic is via Bank Street Brae, Livingstone Place, Scott Street, Gala Park, Kirk Brae, Hall Street and Island Street to the point of restriction.

The one way order on Overhaugh Street from Bank Close to High Street will be rescinded for the duration of the above closure to allow access and egress.
