Brighton, Temporary Road Closures Due To Gas Main Works

What is happening?

BRIGHTON AND HOVE CITY COUNCIL

Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 - Temporary Traffic Order – Dyke Road Place, Wayland Avenue & Withdean Road

  1. NOTICE is hereby given that Brighton & Hove City Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order pursuant to powers in Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended which when it comes into force will have the following effect: -

The following will be carried out in phases, and will only be in force as and when signed:

a) The temporary closure of Dyke Road Place from its junction with Dyke Road Avenue to its junction with Wayland Avenue.

b) The temporary closure of Wayland Avenue from its junction with Withdean Road to its junction with Dyke Road Place.

c) The temporary closure of Withdean Road from its junction with Station Road to its junction with Wayland Avenue.

  1. The Order is necessary to allow contractors working on behalf of Southern Gas Network to carry out major gas main replacement works.

  2. Pedestrian access will be maintained, and a signed diversion route will be in place for vehicular traffic.

  3. This Order comes into force on 15th September 2025 for eighteen months or until such sooner time as the works are completed, which is anticipated to be 14 November 2025.
