Bury St Edmunds, Prohibition & Revocation Of Waiting Restrictions
What is happening?
SUFFOLK COUNTY COUNCIL (DISTRICT OF ST EDMUNDSBURY) (STOPPING, WAITING AND LOADING PROHIBITIONS AND RESTRICTIONS AND ON-STREET PARKING PLACES) (MAP BASED) ORDER 2019 (BURY ST EDMUNDS) (VARIOUS ROADS) (PROHIBITION OF WAITING AND REVOCATION) (VARIATION NO. 11) ORDER 2025
On 18/08/2025 Suffolk County Council made the above order under Sections 1(1) and (2), 2(1) to (3) & (4) and Part IV of Schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended which substitutes revision 3 of Map Tiles bearing reference GE63 and EE63 in place of revision 2 of the same Map Tiles, into the above named 2019 order. The effect of this is to introduce:
Revocation of Waiting Restrictions on:
north-west side of Chichester Close (U8503),
Bury St Edmunds, from the western boundary of Property No. 14 Chichester Close to the southern boundary of Property No. 21 Chichester Close,
a total distance of 21.5 metres
south-east side of Chichester Close (U8503),
Bury St Edmunds, from the driveway and northern boundary of Property No. 2 in a southern direction for a distance of 15.5 metres
north side of Ely Close (U8504), Bury St Edmunds,
from the Western corner of No. 21, in an eastern for a distance of 11.5 metres
east side of Ely Close (U8504), Bury St Edmunds,
from the Western corner of Property No. 24 in a southern direction for a total distance of 21 metres
west side of Ely Close (U8504), Bury St Edmunds,
from the northern boundary of Property No. 9 in a southern direction for a distance of 8 metres.
‘No Waiting at Any Time’ restrictions on:
east side of Home Farm Lane (U7530),
Bury St Edmunds, from a point 15 metres north of Croft Rise, in a northern direction for a distance of 6 metres
west side of Home Farm Lane (U7530),
Bury St Edmunds, from the boundary of Dairy Cottages and Property No. 76, in a northern direction for a distance of 17 metres.
Exemptions to the waiting restrictions allow a vehicle to wait for so long as is necessary to board or alight or to load and unload; for building, industrial or demolition works; for the maintenance of the road or its services; for emergency services, and for fulfilling statutory duties. There are the usual exemptions for Blue Badge holders.
A copy of the order which comes into effect on 01/09/2025 and plans showing the road affected, may be seen with advance notice at the address below, 9am - 5pm Monday - Friday; also Bury St Edmunds Library, Sergeants Walk, St Andrews Street North, Bury St Edmunds IP33 1TZ. Monday, Wednesday and Thursday 8.30am - 6.30pm; Tuesday and Friday 8.30am - 7.30pm; Saturday 8.30am - 5pm and Sunday 10am - 4pm; excluding Bank Holidays and Public Holidays.
If anyone wishes to question the validity of the order or of any provision contained in it on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, or on the grounds that any of the requirements of that Act or any instrument made under it have not been complied with in relation to the order, they may within six weeks of the date on which the order was made apply to the High Court for this purpose.
