York, Multiple Roads, Temporary Traffic Restrictions Due To Various Works

What is happening?

TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS

Notice is hereby given that the City of York Council (the Council), in exercise of powers under Sections 14(1) & 16(B) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (the Act), made an order on Thursday, 21 August 2025 in respect of the location numbered (1). Additionally, the Council made an order on Thursday, 28 August 2025 in respect of the locations numbered (2), (3), (4), (5), (6), (7), (8), (9), (10), (11), (12) & (13). Furthermore, the Council, not less than 7 days from the publication of this Notice, intends to make a) Order under Section 14(1) of the Act in respect of the location numbered (14):

(1) NORTH LANE & CHASE SIDE COURT (CONTINUATION), DRINGHOUSES, YORK

This Order continues in force the Dringhouses, York (North Lane & Chase Side Court) (Temporary Traffic Restriction) Order 2025 (original Order). The effect of which is to continue the prohibition on vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of roads on North Lane & Chase Side Court, Dringhouses, York (i) on North Lane between its junction with Railway View and the projected north-western boundary of property no. 1, and (ii) on the whole length of Chase Side Court from its junction with North Lane onwards (closed roads) during the period commencing at 1700hrs on Friday, 22 August 2025 and ending at 1700hrs on Friday, 29 August 2025 (works period) or on a date when gas mains works being undertaken thereon have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the road will only be closed between 0700hrs and 1700hrs each day of the works period. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Moor Road, Thanet Road, and Railway View. Access will be maintained for residents and emergency vehicles.

(2) MANOR PARK ROAD, MANOR PARK GROVE & ELMA GROVE, YORK

This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in those lengths of road on Manor Park Road, Manor Park Grove & Elma Grove, York (i) on Manor Park Road between its junctions with between its junctions with Manor Lane and Rawcliffe Croft and (ii) on Manor Park Grove between its junction with Manor Park Road and a location 17 metres north-east of said junction and (iii) on Elma Grove between its junction with Manor Park Road and a location 17 metres north-east of said junction (closed roads) during the period when highway maintenance works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0900hrs on Monday, 01 September 2025 and ending at 1500hrs on Tuesday, 02 September 2025 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Manor Lane, Rawcliffe Croft.

(3) BORE TREE BAULK, DUNNINGTON

This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Bore Tree Baulk, Dunnington between its junction with Hull Road (A1079) and a location 80 metres north-west of said junction (closed road) during the period when the public bus stop improvement works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 1930hrs on Monday, 01 September 2025 and ending at 0530hrs on Thursday, 04 September 2025 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the road will only be closed between 1930hrs and 0530hrs each night of the works period. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed via Stamford Bridge Road, Hull Road (A1079).

(4) BACK LANE BETWEEN 1 FALSGRAVE CRESCENT & 10 POPLAR STREET, YORK TO 26-30 BURTON STONE LANE, YORK

This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Back Lane between 1 Falsgrave Crescent & 10 Poplar Street and 26-30 Burton Stone Lane, York between its junction with Glened Court and a location 30 metres north-east of said junction (closed road) during the period when telecom works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0800hrs on Monday, 08 September 2025 and ending at 1800hrs on Friday, 19 September 2025 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Falsgrave Crescent, Poplar Street and Burton Stone Lane.

(5) DRUMMOND VIEW, BISHOPTHORPE

This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Drummond View, Bishopthorpe between its junction with Ramsey Avenue onwards (closed road) during the period when footway maintenance works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0730hrs on Monday, 01 September 2025 and ending at 1600hrs on Friday, 12 September 2025 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the road will only be closed between 0730hrs and 1600hrs each day of the works period. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will not be signed during the works period.

(6) LEEMAN ROAD (MEMORIAL GARDENS), YORK

This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of cycleway on Leeman Road (Memorial Gardens), York between its junctions with Czar Park Esplanade from Leeman Road and Station Avenue (closed cycleway) during the period when flood defence works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0001hrs on Monday, 01 September 2025 and ending at 2359hrs on Friday, 10 October 2025 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Station Rise, Station Avenue.

(7) MILL STREET, YORK

This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Mill Street, York between its junctions with Piccadilly and George Street (closed road) during the period when building development works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0800hrs on Monday, 01 September 2025 and ending at 1700hrs on Monday, 01 March 2027 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely.

It is envisaged that the road will only be close between 0800hrs and 1700hrs each day of the works period. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via George Street, Lead Mill Lane, Piccadilly.

(8) MILL LANE, YORK

This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of northbound carriageway on Mill Lane, York between its junctions with East Parade and Heworth Green (closed carriageway) during the period when electricity grid works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0001hrs on Tuesday, 02 September 2025 and ending at 2359hrs on Thursday, 04 September 2025 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. Additionally, right hand turns by vehicles from John Street into Mill Lane will be prohibited for the duration of the works period (restricted movement). An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via East Parade, Heworth Road, Heworth Green.

(9) MARYGATE LANE, YORK

This Order prohibits vehicles & pedestrians from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Marygate Lane, York between its junction with Marygate and a location 43 metres north-west of said junction (closed road) during the period when power grid works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0800hrs on Tuesday, 02 September 2025 and ending at 1700hrs on Friday, 05 September 2025 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles and pedestrians will be signed during the works period via Marygate, Hetherton Street, Frederick Street.

(10) WATER END, YORK

This Order prohibits vehicles & pedestrians from proceeding and waiting in that length of carriageway & footway on the south-eastern side of Water End, York between its junction with Boroughbridge Road and a location 300 metres north-east of said junction (closed footway / cycleway) during the period when York Central highway works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0800hrs on Tuesday, 02 September 2025 and ending at 1800hrs on Friday, 03 October 2025 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles and pedestrians will be signed during the works period.

(11) FAIRFIELD COTTAGES, SKELTON

This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Fairfield Cottages, Skelton between both junctions with Shipton Road (closed road) during the period when highway maintenance works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0900hrs on Wednesday, 03 September 2025 and ending at 1600hrs on Thursday, 04 September 2025 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the road will only be closed between 0900hrs and 1600hrs each day of the works period. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will not be signed during the works period.

(12) COPMANTHORPE BYE 1/8/30 CONTINUATION), COPMANTHORPE

This Order, with authorisation from the Secretary of State for Transport, continues in force the Copmanthorpe (Restricted Byway 1/8/30) (Temporary Traffic Restriction) Order 2022 (original Order). The effect of which is to prohibit the use by the public of any vehicle & a pedestrian from proceeding along that length of public right of way on Restricted Byway 1/8/30, Copmanthorpe between its junction with Hodgson Close and a location 285 metres north-east of said junction (closed public right of way) during the period commencing at 0001 hours on Wednesday, 03 September 2025 and ending at 0001 hours on Monday, 02 March 2026 (works period) or at a time when housing development works being undertaken hereon have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. No alternative route for diverted pedestrians & cyclists will be signed during the works period.

(13) RESTRICTED BYWAY 1/8/30 (CONTINUATION), COPMANTHORPE

This Order, with authorisation from the Secretary of State for Transport, continues in force the Copmanthorpe (Restricted Byway 1/8/30) (Temporary Traffic Restriction) Order 2022 (original Order). The effect of which is to prohibit the use by the public of any vehicle & a pedestrian from proceeding along that length of public right of way on Restricted Byway 1/8/30, Copmanthorpe between its junction with Hodgson Close and a location 285 metres north-east of said junction (closed public right of way) during the period commencing at 0001 hours on Wednesday, 03 September 2025 and ending at 0001 hours on Monday, 02 March 2026 (works period) or at a time when housing development works being undertaken hereon have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. No alternative route for diverted pedestrians & cyclists will be signed during the works period.

(14) DARLING LANE, MOOR END & MILL LANE, ACASTER MALBIS

This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Darling Lane, Moor End & Mill Lane, Acaster Malbis (i) on Darling Lane between its junctions with Broad Lane to Temple Lane and Mill Lane and (ii) on Moor End between its junctions with Cowper Lane and Mill Lane and (iii) on Mill Lane between its junctions with Darling Lane and Hauling Lane (closed road) during the period when highway maintenance works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0900hrs on Monday, 08 September 2025 and ending at 1500hrs on Tuesday, 09 September 2025 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the road will only be closed between 0900hrs and 1500hrs each day of the works period. Access for residents and emergency services will be maintained. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Mill Lane, Intake Lane, Broad Lane, Broad Lane to Temple Lane, Cowper Lane.

The above Temporary Orders will not prohibit works or emergency access nor will they prohibit access to premises provided that access is not prevented by the work or safety concerns. Traffic signs/barriers will indicate the extent of the prohibitions/restrictions.
