What is happening?
North Yorkshire Council,
Temporary Prohibition of Traffic, Harmby to Cow Close Road – Harmby, Order 2025 No 61
We have extended this Order to continue in force until 19/02/27 which is to prohibit any vehicle from using an approximate 200 metres length of the Harmby to Cow Close Road (adjacent to ‘Lower Wensleydale Caravan Park’) due to unstable road conditions. The closure period will only apply as indicated by the placing of traffic signs & a local alternative route will also be signed on site where appropriate. If works are completed prior to 19/02/27 this Order will be revoked. Prohibition of Waiting & Loading & Provision of Parking, Amendment No 42, Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that on 15/08/25 The North Yorkshire Council made an Order under Sections 1(1), 2(1) to (3), 4(2), 32(1) & 35(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 & Part IV of Schedule 9 to the 1984 Act & under the Traffic Management Act 2004, the effect of which is to amend “North Yorkshire County Council (Prohibition of Waiting & Loading & Provision of Parking) (District of Hambleton) Consolidation Order 2013” by introducing the restrictions specified in the table below:
Schedule 1 - Prohibition of Waiting & Loading & Provision of Parking
Norby, Thirsk, Norby Estate, South side from its junction with the B1448 Norby Front Street, westwards & south westwards for a distance of 94 metres. No Waiting At Any Time.
Norby, Thirsk, Norby Estate, North side from its junction with the B1448 Norby Front Street, westwards, south westwards then northwards into the spur for a total distance of 129 metres. No Waiting At Any Time.
A copy of the Order, which comes into operation on 25/08/25, together with a map showing the roads affected may be examined at County Hall, Northallerton & at Thirsk Community Library, Meadowfields Chapel Street Thirsk, YO7 1TH during normal office hours from 22/08/25 to 26/09/25 & also viewed online at www.northyorks.gov.uk/roadworks-map or www.northyorks.gov.uk/traffic-regulation-orders. If you wish to question the validity of the above Order or of any provision contained in it, on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, or on the grounds that any requirement of that Act, or of any instrument made under it, has not been complied with in relation to the Order, you may, within 6 weeks of 15/08/25 make application to the High Court for the purpose.
