Broughton Road - Temporary Prohitibion of driving order

TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF DRIVING ORDER 2025
Notice is hereby given that on 28/8/25 South Tyneside Council made an Order under S.14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (“the Act”) the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit driving on the following sections of road:- Broughton Rd, Sth Shields, from its junction with Sydenham Ter, in an easterly direction, for a distance of 50m. No access onto Belgrave Ter, no access onto Bright St, no access onto Rear of Beach Rd & Mariners Cot & no access onto Rear of Broughton Rd & Mariners Cot. The Order is required because works are being or are proposed to be executed on or near the road, and in particular to enable South Tyneside Council to repair a carriageway collapse. The Order will come into force on the 28/8/25. The maximum duration of the prohibition under this Order will be 18 mths however it is anticipated
that the prohibition will only be needed from 4/9/25 for 50 days. All vehicles except those engaged in the works, will be prohibited on the road described above for the duration of the works. The prohibition shall only apply at such times and to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the display of traffic
signs. During the prohibition, the alternative route will be via Broughton Rd, South Woodbine St, Erskine Rd, Salisbury Pl, Mariners Cot & vice versa.
