THE PORTSMOUTH CITY COUNCIL (SOUTHERN WATER) (Temporary Road Closure) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF LOADING AND WAITING) (NO.144) ORDER 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Portsmouth City Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) and Section 15(2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
The Order will come into operation on 1st September 2025 and the effect will be as follows:
A) TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE AND DIRECTIONAL RESTRICTIONS
No vehicle shall proceed in any road or length of road in the City of Portsmouth which is, at the time, closed or restricted to facilitate works for the Southern Water Clean Rivers and Seas Plan in the City of Portsmouth.
B) TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF LOADING AND WAITING
No vehicle shall wait or stand at any time in any road or length of road in the City of Portsmouth where, at the time, vehicular parking or loading is restricted to facilitate works for the Southern Water Clean Rivers and Seas Plan in the City of Portsmouth.
C) REASON FOR THE ORDER
To facilitate works for the Southern Water Clean Rivers and Seas Plan in the City of Portsmouth.
D) DURATION OF THE ORDER
In accordance with Section 15 (2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (“the Act”), PCC are satisfied that the execution of the programme of works will take longer than 18 months from 1st September 2025. Portsmouth City Council shall revoke the order as soon as the works are complete. The works will be carried out in sections, the lengths and duration of which will be communicated by the placement of on-street signage, as required, and letters to residents prior to works taking place for each section of road(s).
E) DIVERSION ROUTE
As notified by the placement of advance warning signs for all restrictions associated with each works.
Pedestrian access will be maintained around the works. Cyclists to follow vehicle diversion, or dismount and follow pedestrian diversion around the works. For closures of shared pathways, cyclists to dismount and follow pedestrian diversion around the works.
