Buckinghamshire, Multiple Temporary Road, Footpath And Bridleway Closures Due To Works
What is happening?
BUCKINGHAMSHIRE COUNCIL
The Council intends to make;
(Hay Lane, Fulmer) - (Temporary Prohibition of Through Traffic) Order, 2025 which will temporarily prohibit any vehicle from proceeding, except for access, in Hay Lane for approx. 200M.
The closure is required whilst Fibre works commence on 3rd September 2025.
The proposed Order will come into operation on 3rd September 2025, as signed, with maximum 18 months duration.
(Farthing Green Lane, Stoke Poges) - (Temporary Prohibition of Through Traffic) Order, 2025 which will temporarily prohibit any vehicle from proceeding, except for access, in Farthing Green Lane for approx. 109M.
Alternative route: Farthing Green Lane, Stoke Poges Footpath 50, Grays Park Road, Bells Hill, Hollybush Hill, Framewood Road, Wexham Street and vice versa.
The closure is required whilst Fibre works commence on 1st September 2025.
The proposed Order will come into operation on 1st September 2025, as signed, with maximum 18 months duration.
(Ninnings Road, Chalfont St Peter) - (Temporary Prohibition of Through Traffic) Order, 2025 which will temporarily prohibit any vehicle from proceeding, except for access, in Ninnings Road for approx. 53M.
Alternative route: Copthall Lane, Denham Lane, Joiners Lane and vice versa.
The closure is required whilst gas mains replacement commences on 8th September 2025.
The proposed Order will come into operation on 8th September 2025, as signed, with maximum 18 months duration.
The Council Intends To Make;
(Byway Open To All Traffic No. 57, Parish Of Chalfont St Giles) (Temporary Prohibition of Through Traffic) Order 2025 under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, which will temporarily prohibit any vehicles from proceeding, except for access, in Byway Open to all Traffic No. 57, Parish of Chalfont St Giles from the junction of Nightingales Lane and Kings Road continuing South for approx. 65M. to the junction of Kings Road and Gorelands Lane.
The closure is required whilst surfacing works are being carried out.
There is no suitable alternative route.
The proposed Order will come into operation on 1st September 2025, as signed, with a maximum duration of 6 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the soonest.
(Public Footpath No.17, Parish of Grendon Underwood) (Temporary Footpath Closure) Order 2025 under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, which will temporarily prohibit any person from proceeding, except for access, in that length of Public Footpath No.17, Parish of Grendon Underwood commencing at the junction of Public Footpath No.11, Parish of Edgcott south for approx. 415M.
The closure is required allow for works to proceed in connection with approved development (21/02851/AOP).
Alternative route is via the existing Highway.
The Order will come into operation on 1st September 2025, as signed, with a maximum duration of 6 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the soonest.
(Public Footpath No.16, Parish of Grendon Underwood) (Temporary Footpath Closure) Order 2025 under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, which will temporarily prohibit any person from proceeding, except for access, in that length of Public Footpath No.16, Grendon Underwood commencing at Grendon Road and continues south east for approx. 118M. to the junction opposite Park Road.
The closure is required allow for works to proceed in connection with approved development (21/02851/AOP).
Alternative route is via the existing Highway.
The Order will come into operation on 1st September 2025, as signed, with a maximum duration of 6 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the soonest.
(Public Footpath No. 9/1, Parish of Aylesbury) (Temporary Footpath Closure) Order 2025 under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, which will temporarily prohibit any person from proceeding, except for access, in that length of Public Footpath commencing at the junction of AYL FP 9/1 and Thame Road continuing south east for approx. 10M.
There is no alternative route.
The closure is required to enable safe access for the installation of two new poles.
The Order will come into operation on 18th August 2025, as signed, with a maximum duration of 6 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the soonest.
(Public Bridleway No. 43 Parish Of Chalfont St Giles And Public Bridleway No. 5 (Part) Parish Of Chenies) Public Path Diversion Order 2021
On 7th August 2025, Buckinghamshire Council confirmed the above Order made under section 119 of the Highways Act 1980 and section 53A (2) of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981.
The effect of the Order as confirmed is to divert Public Bridleway No. 43, Chalfont St Giles and part of Public Bridleway No. 5, Chenies from TQ0058-9697, E for 102M to TQ0068-9696, then SE for 66M to TQ0073-9691, then E for 65M to TQ0080-9691, then NE for 58M to TQ0084-9694, as shown by a bold black continuous line on the Order map, to a line running from TQ0058-9696, E for 99M to TQ0068-9695, then ESE for 153M to TQ0082-9690, then NNE for 53M to TQ0084-9694, as shown by a bold broken black line on the Order map and having a width of 3M throughout, and Bridle Gate (BS5709) at TQ0058-9696.

The Order came into force on 7th August 2025, but if a person aggrieved by the Order wants to question its validity, or that of any provision contained in it, on the ground that it is not within the powers of the Highways Act 1980, as amended, or on the ground that any requirement of the Act, as amended, or of any regulation made under the Act has not been complied with in relation to the Order, he or she may, under paragraph 2 of Schedule 2 to the Act as applied by paragraph 5 of Schedule 6 to the Act, within 6 weeks from 22nd August 2025, make an application to the High Court.
