Castle Street, Temporary Traffic Restrictions Due To Utility Works
What is happening?
CUMBERLAND COUNCIL (CASTLE STREET, CARLISLE) (TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2025
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable utility works to be carried out ("the Works"), Cumberland Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along that section of Castle Street, Carlisle, from its junction with Paternoster Row, extending in a south easterly direction to its junction with St Mary's Gate. There is no suitable alternative route available for vehicles.
A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times.

The Order will come into operation on 7 September 2025 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restriction will only be required for 1 day between 0700 and 1900 hours, and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
