What is happening?

HERTFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL:

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF GEORGE STREET, BERKHAMSTED) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of George Street, Berkhamsted from its junction with Gravel Path south eastwards for a distance of approximately 188m (“the Road”), except for access.

An alternative route will be via Gravel Path, Ellesmere Road, Paxton Road and George Street.

The Order is needed because utility service works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 15 September 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF VARIOUS ROADS IN HEMEL HEMPSTEAD) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of roads (“the Roads”), except for access:-

1.     that length of St Johns Road, Hemel Hempstead from its junction with Cowper Road south eastwards, north eastwards and eastwards to its junction with Beechfield Road, a distance of approximately 384m.

An alternative route will be via St Johns Road, Fishery Road, A4251 London Road, A4146 Station Road and St Johns Road.

2.   that length of Kingsland Road/Wharf Road/Horsecroft Road, Hemel Hempstead from its junction with Hemel Hempstead Public Footpath No.086 south eastwards and north westwards for a distance of approximately 600m.

An alternative route will be via Kingsland Road, Fishery Road and Horsecroft Road.

3.   that length of Anchor Lane, Hemel Hempstead from its junction with St Johns Road north eastwards for a distance of approximately 20m.

An alternative route will be via St Johns Road, Beechfield Road and Anchor Lane.

4.    that length of St Johns Road, Hemel Hempstead from its junction with Cowper Road north westwards and south westwards to its junction with Green End Road/Northridge Way roundabout, a distance of approximately 263m.

An alternative route will be via St Johns Road, Anchor Lane, Beechfield Road, Anchor Lane, Heath Lane, Lockers Park Lane, Bury Hill, Lockers Park Lane, Warners End Road and Northridge Way. 5. that length of Thorne Close, Hemel Hempstead from its junction with St Johns Road north eastwards for a distance of approximately 20m.

There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.

6.  that length of Cowper Road, Hemel Hempstead from its junction with St Johns Road northwards for a distance of approximately 20m.

An alternative route will be via St Johns Road, Green End Road, Alston Road, Grosvenor Terrace and Cowper Road.

7.  that length of Puller Road, Hemel Hempstead from its junction with St Johns Road northwards for a distance of approximately 20m.

An alternative route will be via St Johns Road, Green End Road, Alston Road, Grosvenor Terrace and Puller Road.

8.   that length of Sebright Road, Hemel Hempstead from its junction with St Johns Road northwards for a distance of approximately 20m.

An alternative route will be via St Johns Road, Green End Road, Alston Road, Grosvenor Terrace and Sebright Road.

9.  that length of Wharf Road, Hemel Hempstead from its junction with St Johns Road south westwards for its entire length.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF B489 LOWER ICKNIELD WAY, WILSTONE GREEN) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of B489 Lower Icknield Way, Wilstone Green from its junction with Tring Road south westwards for a distance of approximately 324m (“the Road”).

An alternative route will be via B489 Lower Icknield Way, Tringford Road, B488 Icknield Way, The Holloway and B489 Lower Icknield Way.

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

The Order has been made and shall come into force on 1 September 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.
