Gilsland - Temporary Road Closure due to Level Crossing Maintenance Works
What is happening?
CUMBERLAND COUNCIL (C1023 NEAR GISLAND)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF ALL TRAFFIC)
ORDER 2025
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable level crossing maintenance works to be carried out (“the Works”), Cumberland Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit all traffic (i.e. vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists), from proceeding along that section of the C1023 near Gilsland, from a point with the junction to the entrance track leading towards the farm property known as ‘The Throp’, extending in a north easterly direction, over the level crossing for approx. 20m.
A suitable alternative route for vehicles will be signed and available via the unrestricted sections of the C1023, B6318 Gilsland to Greenhead and the A69.

The Order will come into operation on 13 September 2025 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restriction will only be required between 2300 hours on 13 September 2025 and 0900 hours on 14 September 2025, and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
