Barrow-in-Furness - Temporary Road Closures due to Utility Works
What is happening?
WESTMORLAND AND FURNESS COUNCIL
(HAWCOAT LANE, HOLLOW LANE AND VALLEY DRIVE BARROW IN FURNESS) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF ALL TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable utility works to be carried out (“the Works”), Westmorland and Furness Council has made an Order the effect of which is to prohibit all traffic (i.e. vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists), from proceeding along that section of the;
(i) Hawcoat Lane, from its junction with Abbey Road extending in a north westerly direction for a distance of approx. 20m.
Alternative Route: via Wheatclose Road, Dane Avenue, Abbey Road and the unrestricted section of Hawcoat Lane.
(ii) Hollow Lane, from its junction with Abbey Road, extending in a south easterly direction for a distance of approx. 20m.
Alternative Route: via Abbey Road, Rating Lane, and the unrestricted section of Hollow Lane.
Duration: From 25th August 2025 for approx. 2 weeks (Ref: TTRO/WI/5366)
(iii) Valley Drive, from its junction with Abbey Road, extending in a south easterly direction for a distance of approx. 60m.
Alternative Route: via Abbey Road, Fairfield Lane, Hollow Lane, Hector Street, Hector Terrace, Dorcas Avenue, Athens Drive and the unrestricted section of Valley Drive.
Duration: From 25th August 2025 for approx. 2 weeks (Ref: TTRO/WI/5365)

The Order will come into operation on 25th August 2025 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restriction will only be required as detailed above, and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
