Hale Common, Temporary 40mph Speed Restriction For Road Safety Purposes

What is happening?

The Isle of Wight Council's Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders Notice is hereby given that the Isle of Wight Council in not less than seven days from the appearance of this Notice, under Section 14 (1) (b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, proposes to make the following Orders: -The Isle of Wight Council (Hale Common, Arreton, Isle of Wight) (Temporary 40 MPH Speed Restriction) Order No 1 2025

Island Roads on behalf of The Isle of Wight Council give notice that from 0001 hours on Friday 29 August 2025, for a period of 18 months, a 40mph speed restriction will be introduced along A3056 Hale Common, Arreton, between a point 155m south-east of Bathingbourne Lane and a point 185m north-west of Winford Road. The current 50 mph speed restriction will be revoked whilst the temporary signage is in place, for the duration of this order. The restriction is required to improve road safety for the area.
