Temporary Prohibition of Through Traffic Order 2025
On 2nd September 2025, Dartmoor National Park Authority made an order under section 22BB (2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and the National Park Authorities’ Traffic Orders (Procedure) (England) Regulations 2007, to prohibit through traffic on Public Footpath No 8 (Moretonhampstead) from Grid Ref SX 745 896 to SX 754 897.
This restriction is necessary to enable the Woodland Trust to carry out essential conservation works and will be in operation only when appropriate traffic signs are displayed. The route will remain open at weekends.
The order will come into force on 1st October 2025 (for a maximum of 6 months) to 31st March 2026, or on completion of the works, whichever is sooner.
A copy of the order and the order map, together with documents giving further details of the order, have been placed on the Authority’s website at https://www.dartmoor.gov.uk/enjoy-dartmoor/outdoor-activities/walking/where-you-can-walk and may be seen free of charge at the office of Dartmoor National Park Authority, Parke, Bovey Tracey, Newton Abbot, Devon, TQ13 9JQ from 9am to 4pm Monday to Friday.
