What is happening?

BRIGHTON AND HOVE CITY COUNCIL

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984

TEMPORARY TRAFFIC ORDER – HERITAGE LAMP COLUMN RESTORATION WORKS – VARIOUS LOCATIONS THROUGHOUT BRIGHTON & HOVE

  1. NOTICE is hereby given that Brighton & Hove City Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order pursuant to powers in Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended which when it comes into force will have the following effect:-

In phases, in force as and when signed

Dates available on One.network

(a) Madeira Drive

(i) The temporary prohibition of the cycle lane from a point approximately 25 metres from its junction with the Aquarium Roundabout eastwards for approximately 35 metres.

(ii) The temporary prohibition of the cycle lane from a point approximately 390 metres from its junction with the Aquarium Roundabout eastward for approximately 35 metres.

(b) Kings Road

(i) The temporary prohibition of the cycle lane westbound from a point approximately 115 metres west from its junction with West Street westwards for approximately 130 metres.

(ii) The temporary prohibition of the cycle lane eastbound from the opposite junction of Cannon Place eastwards for approximately 30 metres.

(c) Chesham Place & Marine Parade

(i) The temporary prohibition of the right turn movement from Chesham Place onto Marine Parade.

(ii) The temporary prohibition of the right turn movement from Marine Parade onto Chesham Place.

(d) Lewes Crescent

(i) The temporary closure of Lewes Crescent junction east side at its junction with Marine Parade.

  1. The Order is necessary to allow contractors working on behalf of BHCC carry out Heritage Lamp Column Restoration works.

  2. Pedestrian access will be maintained, and a signed diversion route will be in place for vehicular traffic.

  3. This Order comes into force on 8 September 2025 for eighteen months or until such sooner time as the works are completed.
