Hewish Gates - Temporary Road Closure To Rail Maintenance Works

What is happening?

Temporary Closure of Hewish Gates

Somerset Council in exercise of its powers under Section 14 (1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, propose to make an Order prohibiting all traffic from proceeding along: Hewish Gates - from 176 metres west of the junction with Clapton Road, westwards for a total distance of 61 metres.

This Order will enable Network Rail to carry out rail maintenance works.

The Order becomes effective on 11th September 2025 and will remain in force for 18 months. The works are expected to commence on 16th September 2025 and last until 17th September 2025 between the hours of 23:45 - 05:15 for a total of 6 hours.
