Essex, Multiple Traffic Notices, Temporary Road Closures due to Utility and Highway Works
What is happening?

An alternative route is available via Chapel Road, Cage Lane, Boxted Straight Road, Straight Road, Chapel Road vice versa.
The Order came into effect on 14th August 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Heath Road, Fordham Heath)
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Heath Road, Fordham Heath in the City of Colchester, from its junction with Wood Lane for a distance of approximately 30m in a south easterly direction.
The closure is scheduled to commence on 1st September 2025 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (AD03166192101 – Anglian Water). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while stop tap replacement works are undertaken by Anglian Water.
An alternative route is available via Wood Lane, Halstead Road, Spring Lane and vice versa.

(London Road, Great Horkesley/Little Horkesley)
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of London Road, Great Horkesley/Little Horkesley in the City of Colchester, from its junction with Coach Road to its junction with Nayland Road a distance of approximately 3190m. The closure is scheduled to commence on 1st September 2025 for 9 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP201EH2386490 – Essex County Council). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while drainage works are undertaken by Essex County Council.
An alternative route is available via Coach Road, Old House Road, The Causeway, Nayland Road, and vice versa.

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Mill Road, Colchester in the City of Colchester, from its junction with Nayland Road for a distance of approximately 70m in a south easterly direction.
The closure is scheduled to commence on 5th September 2025 for 1 night (19:00–05:00), or where stated on a valid permit (EP201EH2382940 – Essex County Council). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while carriageway patching works are undertaken by Essex County Council.
An alternative route is available via Mill Road, Defoe Crescent, Nayland Road and vice versa.
The Order came into effect on 14th August 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Plummers Road, Fordham)
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Plummers Road, Fordham in the City of Colchester, from a point approximately 385m north east then north west of its junction with Chappel Road for a distance of approximately 50m in a north westerly direction.
The closure is scheduled to commence on 1st September 2025 for 2 days, or where stated on a valid permit (AD037SM65930454 – Anglian Water). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while carriageway lining works are undertaken by Anglian Water.
An alternative route is available via Plummers Road, Wormingford Road, Fordham Road, B1508, Lexden Road, New Bridge Hill, Chitts Hill, Halstead Road, A1124, Eight Ash Green Roundabout, A1124, Wood Lane, Potters Cottage, Fiddlers Hill, Mill Road, Church Road, Moat Hill, Plummers Road and vice versa.
The Order came into effect on 14th August 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
