Wellgate And York Street - Temporary Prohibition Of Through Traffic
What is happening?
LANCASHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL
(WELLGATE AND YORK STREET RESURFACING, CLITHEROE, RIBBLE VALLEY)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Lancashire County Council intend to make an Order under Section 14(1) (a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit traffic on the roads set out in this notice.
1. No person shall cause any motor vehicle or cycle to proceed over the following lengths of roads in Clitheroe Town Centre as follows:
Wellgate - York Street – Castle Street – King Lane – Church Street and Church Brow in their entirety
King Street from its junction with Castle Street to its junction with New Market Street
2. Nothing in this order shall apply to persons engaged in the carrying out of the works.
3. The prohibition will be operative during the following times: -
Sunday 14th September – 0800 – 1600
Sunday 21st September – 0800 - 1600
Sunday 28th September – 0800 – 1600
Monday 15th September to Saturday 20th September from 1900 hours to 0500 hours
Monday 22nd September to Saturday 27th September from 1900 hours to 0500 hours
The prohibitions will only be operative when indicated on site by the presence of the appropriate traffic signs in accordance with The Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016
4. Vehicular access for residents will be maintained whenever and wherever possible. Pedestrian access to properties will always be maintained. Emergency vehicle access will be maintained whenever and wherever possible.
5. An alternative route for vehicular traffic affected by the closure is via: -
Waterloo Road – Peel Street – Queens Way – Moor Lane – Parsons Lane – Station Road – Railway View – Waddington Road
The temporary prohibition is necessary to allow Lancashire County Council to carry out carriageway resurfacing works on Wellgate and York Street.
