What is happening?

THE METROPOLITAN BOROUGH COUNCIL OF STOCKPORT
(GEORGE STREET, COMPSTALL) (LIMITED WAITING) TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2025

The Metropolitan Borough Council of Stockport has on 26 August 2025 made an Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the Road Traffic Act 1991 and the Traffic Management Act 2004 which will come into operation on the 27 August 2023.The effect of the Order will be to introduce Limited Waiting 1 hour, no return 1 hour George Street North West Side From a point 6 metres southwest of the northeast building line of 229 Market Place for a distance of 5.5 metres in a south westerly direction. George Street Southwest Side (adjacent to Market Place) From a point 4.5 metres from the northwest kerb line of George St for a distance of 6m (3no, 2-metre-wide perpendicular parking bays) Measurements from George St kerb line are taken from the east side of Market Place. A copy of the Order, map and statement of the reasons for making the Order, can be obtained from Stockport Legal Services, Town Hall Stockport SK1 3XE. 
Any person wishing to question the validity of the Order or any of its provisions on the ground that it is not within the powers of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 or the Road Traffic Act 1991, or that a requirement of the Act or of any relevant regulations made thereunder has not been complied with may, within 6 weeks from the date on which the Order was made, make application for the purpose to the High Court.
