Oak Street, Windermere - Temporary Road Closure due to Utility Works

What is happening?

WESTMORLAND AND FURNESS COUNCIL

(OAK STREET, WINDERMERE)

(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF ALL TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable utility works to be carried out (“the Works”), Westmorland and Furness Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit all traffic (i.e. vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists), from proceeding along that section of Oak Street, Windermere, from a point approx. 30 metres north west of its junction with Orrest Drive, extending in a north westerly direction for approx. 25 metres.

A suitable alternative route for all traffic will be signed and available as follows:

North West Bound Traffic: Via the unrestricted sections of Oak Street, Woodland Road, Broad Street, Main Road, High Street, Victoria Street and Crescent Street.

South East Bound Traffic: Via the unrestricted sections of Oak Street, Crescent Road, Broad Street and Woodland Road.

The Order will come into operation on 11th September 2025 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restriction will only be required for 1 week and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
