Durham, Temporary Footpath Closure Due To Footbridge Remedial Works

What is happening?

(TEMPORARY FOOTBRIDGE/FOOTPATH CLOSURE NOTICE) SHERBURN BECK NO. 2 FOOTBRIDGE, SHADFORTH) ORDER 2019

The above-named Order made by the Council on 14/2/19, under section 14 (1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, and which became operational on 26/2/19 and was previously extended to 25/8/2025 has been continued in force from 26/8/2025, as approved by the Secretary of State for Transport, until 25/8/2026 or until completion of the works, whichever is the earlier. The effect of the Order is to temporarily prohibit all pedestrian traffic on 10 metres of Footpath number. 32 Shadforth Parish carried by Sherburn Beck number 2 Footbridge, west of Shadforth to safeguard pedestrians and to enable footbridge remedial works to be carried out. Alternative route from the east side of the closure via Footpath number 3 Shadforth Parish in a northerly or southerly direction and westerly via Footpath number 30 or number 33 onto Bridleway number 29 leading to Footpath number 32a and 32 to the western side of the closure, and vice versa.
