Commercial Street, Temporary Road Closure Due To Installation Works

What is happening?

 THE COUNTY COUNCIL OF DURHAM

(COMMERCIAL STREET (BACK), CORNSAY COLLIERY) (TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE) ORDER 2025

The Council proposes to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from proceeding on the following length of road. A 5 metre length of Commercial Street (Back), Cornsay Colliery to the rear of Number 27d Commercial Street to enable new manhole chamber installation works to be undertaken.

Throughout the period of the closure a diversion will be available to vehicular traffic on the road between Numbers 20 and 21 Commercial Street.

The maximum duration of the Order is 18 months.

The proposed works are to commence from 8am on Monday 8/9/2025 and are anticipated to be completed in 12 days. On occasions, alternative dates for the closure may be necessary and these will be signed on site accordingly.
